Super Mario is screwed again...

I'm thinking of calling Mario Williams the Susan Lucci of the NFL.

In the NFL's own infinite wisdom, Mario Williams was left hanging and dangling out of the AFC Pro Bowl team in favor of Jared Allen,   Kyle Vanden Bosch and Jason Taylor. This was despite having  14 sacks this season which is tied for third in the NFL.   But if you thought he was screwed before...... He was literally backstabbed  today.

Due to a nagging injury sustained by Jason Taylor, the AFC had an open spot at DE.   Surely they would have taken the controversial #1 pick in the NFL draft last year.  The guy who had a much better year individually than Reggie Bush and Vince Young.  The guy who's proving the naysayers wrong and shutting critics up.

Apparently logic need not apply in this situation.

Buffalo Bills defensive end Aaron Schobel ended up being the replacement for Jason Taylor on the AFC roster.  This was despite having only {get this}  6 and a half sacks in 16 starts this season.   If we want to draw comparisons, KC defensive end Tamba Hali had more tackles and had  7 and a half sacks this season.

Congratulations, you've just given me one more reason not to give half of a damn about the Pro Bowl.

I'm with you on this one, Mario should be ahead of Schobel, Allen, Vanden Bosch, and Taylor, but that's just my opinion. Hopefully Mario will get their next year. I voted for you Mario.

It's unreal to me that a #1 overall pick would put up numbers like this immediately and yet be screwed in this manner. Schobel simply got there because he was there last year. Went from 14 sacks to 6 and a half. The Pro-Bowl is meaningless.

You can't be any more honest. At least it's not as bad as the NBA ASG when Shaq was leading votes, even though he only played 6 games at that point last year.

I don't understand how he didn't get voted in, then on top of that wasn't even picked as a reserve. Seems like a no-brainer to me...

What the hell? Did a bunch of Tar Holes vote or something? Should be plain as day that he should be in the Pro Bowl, even a starter at that. I guess we're gonna have to wait until next year.

Tamba Hali had just as much right to make the Pro Bowl as Aaron Schobel.

The fact Trent Cole finally got in as an injury replacement despite being intially ignored for 12.5 sacks is ridiculous also. They need to figure out a better method for picking players. John Lynch is an exceptional player but he gets voted in even in off years when other players put up better numbers and the fact that this is Fred Taylor's first Pro Bowl disturbs me beyond belief.

Don't even get me started on that. Nobody's been screwed worse than Fred Taylor when it comes to Pro Bowls.

I have to say that if the draft was to reoccur today I would have also taken Mario over Reggie.

Seriously, who gives a damn about the Pro Bowl?

It is a stupid exhibition at the end of the season. Its partipants don't really want to play and the game absolutely sucks. It resembles more of a backyard game than an event worthy to be branded "NFL".

Furthermore, players get pissed at not being named on the team only because of losing bonus money. And once players are selected, there is a huge turn over due to injury or simple lack of interest.

But then again, it does give some "fans" an opportunity to "cheer" for all of their favorite teams in one game.
