BigPPup
AGM Linebacker and I will bring the pain.

I'm a sports fanatic. I hail from Nelson County Virginia, and thats where I learned to be a Virginia Cavalier fan. I also learned to be a Dallas Cowboys fan because I hated how good the Redskins were doing. I've played sports at almost every level with the exception of being a fulltime professional, as a result I have a great perception on the sporting world. I love to talk sports and I've never been shy to share my opinion with someone.

Summer Sports Suck, But Walker's Rants Will Keep You Entertained

It’s that time of the year; summer boredom is ready to set in.  The NBA season is over, there is no sign of football season, the Olympics eh... kinda weak. So that leaves you watching baseball highlights and let’s be honest those all look a like after about the third one.  But have no fear, Walker’s Rants never takes and off-season and we always keep it entertaining.

Mmm, Wimbledon started, can’t say I’ll be watching that one…

Chalk up another win for the Germans as they march their way to victory…

Jevon Kearse, way to go jackass…

Penalty kicks are a terrible way to end a soccer game…

Tiger Woods simply amazing, hope that ACL heals up quickly…

Kyle Bush is very impressive right now on the Sprint Cup Circuit…

Team U.S. is named they will never be the original Dream Team, but I’d settle for 1996…

U.S.A. Rugby went 0-3 in the Church Hill Cup, unacceptable…

Chad Johnson will rip the Bengals apart this season…

There’s a lot of trade rumors swirling around the NBA Draft it could be interesting…

Curt Schilling is not a Hall of Fame player…

Willie needed to be fired but the way it was done was pathetic…

Michael Beasley’s work ethic will make him a bust in the NBA…

It was a bad shoe.  I knew Big Brown couldn’t be that bad…

D.C. Slayers improve to 2-1 this could be a very big year…

R.I.P. George Carlin…

The College World Series has been impressive to say the least, watching a dog reach the top is amazing…

Barry Melrose is coaching; I guess ESPN has completely given up on hockey…

I’m getting to old to play rugby, but yet I still go out there each week. I must be sick…

I think what you said about Beasley will rear it's head on OJ Mayo instead...

There will be a TON of NBA trades!!! A lot of teams are trying to emulate the Celtics and move for several stars and the rest need to separate themselves...

YEah, well I watched Mayo play a bunch in HS when he was in Cinci, and I watched him at USC. I mean he is a talent, but he never peaks on my draft board because his attitude has been crap since he was 12 and it wont get better.

Mayo will be a bust and the Lopez twins will be colossal flops. They to me edge towards Joakim Noah.

Can we agree not to mention Noah's name for the next 20 years? I'm still bitter.

I think Joakim Noah's best days are well ahead of him and the Lopez brothers aren't going to be All-Stars, but they won't be horrible, either.

I hope (for his sake) that OJ Mayo has a better career than DeJuan Wagner, Eddie Griffin or Darius Miles...

Oohhh Darius Miles, I can actually see Mayo going down that path quickly. I agree that the Lobez boys will have good careers just not All Star ones. I think we will see Noah reemerge in like 3 yrs with another team and he will have a decent short run

Am I the only one thinking the US will improve but still won't win gold?

I see a silver medal for them and they lose to (European country here).....I think it's been made clear that most of these countries are catching on to basketball and are doing very well in places like Greece.

Watch out for the South American sides that are always dangerous.

But uh....other than that chalk up many gold medals for us!

The South American sides are dangerous but not as good as they were a couple years back. Argentina is getting old and remember Ginobli makes that team tick and he was hurt during the NBA playoffs and slowing down.

Tiger hurt his knee jogging around his neighborhood after the British Open. He likely did more damage in Dubai, but the intial injury happened six months before.

Interestingly enough, I was caddying for my dad sunday. He was playing with a guy who works for IMG, which is the agency that represents tiger. He said that Tiger hurt his knee @ Dubai when he did one of those sideways struts after a good shot. Just more proof that Tiger refuses to tell people what's up with him. You don't know if they will be the dream team. Maybe not yet, but one day, this group of players might be pretty close

I cannot plus you enough Manny there will only be 1 Dream Team because you had 3 of the best players to ever step on the court on that team and that will never happen again. As far as Tiger goes, he's an athlete what athlete ever tells their honest story when it comes to their health?

Ya, Manny is right - not only 3 of the top 5 all time players but also the best international player in the history of FIBA (Charles Barkley). FP (the guy who admits to not having a great basketball mind) should be hesitant to compare current squads to a team he's too young to of witnessed or at least remember witnessing.

Wanna know why ALL the summer work outs and scrimmages are documented these days? Because 1 blue vs. white scrimmage with teams picked by Jordan and Bird was done in a small gym in the summer of '92 - and in NINETEEN FLIPPING NINETY-TWO no one managed to film it or even get pictures to prove it happened and it was apparently the greatest game every played. So will document everything in the hopes that we will be fortunate enough to catch anything close to that '92 scrimmage on film. That's just a small testament to how incredible that squad was.

They're nowhere close now, I know that. But there are some really special players on this squad that have the ability to become something truly spectacular. The chances are low that they'll become the Dream Team, but a lot of the players still have a lot of room to grow. I get that Jordan and Bird are legendary, and will never be replaced. But what they can do is become a team of nearly as much historical significance. Both in terms of that one draft class could be so historic (2003 has 5 players on the roster, and 3 are starting, and it's no question they're the leaders) and in terms of starting to bring back the glory to US Basketball.

"You will see a team of professionals in the Olympics again," said USA coach Chuck Daly. "But I don't think you'll see another team quite like this. This was a majestic team."

Chuck Daly himself said there will never be another Dream Team. What they did not only made basketball what it is in France, Spain, Italy, Angola, Brazil, Argentina and the rest of the world what it is today. They also had the Greatest player to ever live (Jordan) the best Small Forward ever (Bird) the best FIBA player (Barkley) and Ewing and David Robinson the two best Centers in the world at the time. We will never see a team touch this roster again in sheer talent and dominance, period. The era (Bird/Magic Era), and this teams affects on the rest of the world are why this is so.

The only way you challenge that team is if you get a WhatIfSports Dream Team together of Lakers and Celtics old timers. A starting 5 of Jerry West, KC Jones, James Worthy, Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlin with George Mikan, Parish, and Bob Cousy coming off the bench.

After 2 hours of football (90 mintues + 2 15 minute extra periods) there really isn't another practical way to end a match other then penalty kicks. Yes they suck, but when there is nothing to split the two teams after all that football, they have to come to a result. Some have likened it to shooting free throws to end a game. It's more like everyone has to shoot a 3 pointer after playing 58 minutes of basketball.

That is completely impractical because most teams don't have a guy who can score on a FK consistently - but I know your just bullshitting.

It's unacceptable BigPPup, but US Rugby is a lot like Canada's Rugby team but worse. They'll make it to the World Cup and then not even win a game, they barely show up most of the time.

As a member of the Eagle and the Tomahawk pool it is unacceptable that we are that bad. You play to win the game. There is no reason we cannot raise a World Cup we have the athletes we just need the gameplan and the time. Losing is not an option and I will not tolerate it.

Chris Henry is gone. TJ. Could break up the Bengals by opting out of his contract at the end of the season which I would not blame him for doing. But I cannot see him being a distraction.
