Suicide Pool Pick Week 8

Last week, we advanced in our suicide pool by choosing the Houston Texans. Although the final score was 28-21, the Texans got out to a 21-3 halftime lead before Detroit made a late push. In truth, there was never anything to worry about and this now brings us to 3 for 3 since we started this section.

For week 8, we’re going to select the New York Jets. While there are other, more attractive plays out there (Washington, Baltimore, etc.), we feel that we can get past this week and keep those better teams around for when there are only a handful of people left in your pool. This week, the lowly Kansas City Chiefs come to the Meadowlands and bring their unimpressive 1-5 record with them. On the road, they’re 0-3 - being outscored 89-24. That’s just not good football.

Against KC, we see the Jets continuing to ride RB Thomas Jones on the ground and using this to set up Favre and the passing game. While #4 hasn’t been too impressive of late, nothing can get you out of a rut quicker than seeing an opponent like the Chiefs come to town. Offensively, the Chiefs are now resigned to the fact that they’ll be playing with their back-up QB for the rest of the season, and in this game, with their back-up RB since LJ has been benched for violating team rules. This all adds up to a strong day by the Jets’ D and we see a victory by 10 points or more, minimum. Play NY this week and then sit back, relax and get ready to focus on the week 9 schedule.

Week 7 Houston Texans

Week 6 Philadelphia Eagles

Week 5 Carolina Panthers

Week 4 Buffalo Bills
