I do. Absolutely no need to tackle the kid. If he's running around, trying to evade capture, then you tackle. If not, you can grab him, shove him, restrain him; but tackling him to the floor is uncalled for.

Agreed. Of course, we don't know all the circumstances (history, drugs--anything is possible), but by appearances, this was totally unnecessary, particularly at a high school. No physical contact was required at all--talk the guy off the court first.

I've watched this video again, and the teacher isn't trying to do anything but drive this kid to the ground. He has him wrapped up, which means the situation is controlled. All he has to do is hold him until one of the cops gets on the scene. Instead, he goes Terry Tate on him, crossing the line. I honestly hope this guy gets canned and sued.
