From Todays News ....

Srilanka won the Fifth CBS one day International match against India played in Manuka Oval, Canberra. The venue which hosted World Cup match in 1992, when South Africans beat Zimbabwe. Rain interrupted the play and the match was reduced to 29 overs, Mahela Jayawardene, Srilankan captain won the toss and put India into bat.

India scored 195 runs in their alloted 29 overs, Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir batted brilliantly after Sachin Tendulkar and Sehwag got out. Sehwag went cheaply for 14 but Sachin scored 32 of 30 balls. Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir partnered for the third wicket and scored 64 runs. India ended scoring 195 runs in 29 overs. All the Srilankan bowlers went for runs including ace spinner Muttiah Muralitharan.

Rain interrupted the play during the lunch interval and the match was reduced to 21 overs for Srilanka at the required run rate of 7.7. It looked the run rate was high to chase but Sanath Jayasuriya had different plans. He blasted Sreesanth for 23 runs in his second over and things went out of Dhoni’s hands. After Jayasuriya got out at 27 of 13 balls, Sangakkara joined Dilshan, but Sangakkara got out for 10, trying to score quickly to Harbhajan Singh caught by Ishant Sharma. Captain Jayawardene and Dilshan took Srilanka home and won the match comfortably.

Now the tournament is open with India, Australia and Srilanka winning a match each, scoring 8, 7 and 6 points each.
