Sox back on winning track

It took the full nine innings, but the Boston Red Sox put a stop to their five game losing streak with a 1-0 walk off win over the Toronto Blue Jays. It was a pitchers duel from the very beginning, as Jon Lester tossed five innings of no hit ball before giving up a single to Lyle Overbay. Lester went eight innings giving up just the one hit, while striking out six. His walks were still a bit high, as he gave up four, but he never allowed a Blue Jay to reach second base. Scott Rolen was the first Jay to get on second as he hit a double in the ninth off of Jonathan Papelbon. Papelbon struck out two batters and nearly got hit in the head by a screaming line drive off the bat of Vernon Wells that Dustin Pedroia snagged on a dive and through Wells out.
On the other side of the ball, the Blue Jays did not do half bad either, as their ace Roy Halladay pitched just as well as Lester. Heading into the ninth inning, Halladay had given up just three hits and struck out six.
Then in the ninth Halladay came unraveled with two outs. After giving up a long foul fly ball that made it look as though David Ortiz had just won the game he walked Big Papi and gave up a bloop single to Manny Ramirez. Then Kevin Youkilis strolled to the plate. He took a ball and then laced a single up the middle into center field, that had us all asking, is Papi going to try it? Then Wells bobbled it and Ortiz strolled home safely.
The Red Sox broke the five game losing skid, but the offense is still nowhere to be seen. The Blue Jays and Red Sox will square off again tomorrow night.
