The Boston Celtics started the night off slowly against the Houston Rockets, before coming alive in the final minute of the second quarter and blasting off with a big win, 94-74. The Houston Rockets had a 22-game winning streak coming into the night against the NBA’s best team, record wise.

Missing Ray Allen, the Celtics had several players step up for them. The big guns, Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce combined for 44 points, while Leon Powe came off the bench and put in 21. The green also did a great job on the defensive side of the ball as well.

They came into the game knowing that they would have to stop Tracy McGrady and they did just that, holding him to just eight points, while Yao Ming’s replacement, Luis Scola, had a team high 15.

The Celtics, who have clinched a playoff berth, improved their conference lead to five games over the Detroit Pistons, while the Los Angeles Lakers are able to pull into a tie with Houston.

The Rockets will travel to New Orleans for a game on Wednesday, while Boston will stay in Texas for a match up against Dallas on Thursday.

Great job, Rockets. Would've ever thought a team that started a streak like this would have a record under .500? That's CRAZY! You guys doing the almost impossible without Yao Ming for half of that streak too.

Congrats on the 22 winning streak, but every streak comes to end one way or another. Just ask the 2002 Oakland Athletics, just ask the 1972 LA Lakers... Hell, ask the 2008 New England Patriots.

I just wanted the game to be closer. It would've been much better to see... maybe even a nom

24-20 is under .500? Are you sure you don't need 3 more math credits?

I'm not a huge NBA fan but I did try to watch the game last night. The Rockets streak was impressive especially since guys like Mike Harris were playing significant minutes.

I think the Rockets really missed Carl Landry last night. Not to mention Yao on the glass.
