If anyone just watched Monday Night Raw, you would have just witnessed perhaps the final time that you will ever see the Nature Boy. The 16 time world champion. The styling, profiling, jet flying, limousine riding son of a gun waved his final farewell in a tribute that featured Harley Race, Triple H, Greg Valentine, Ricky Steamboat, Arn Anderson, and members of the Four Horseman, Batista, and many others. We can talk about the impact that Hulk Hogan had on wrestling and it sure cannot be disputed, but this man wrestled for 35 years. And even in his final swansong at Wrestlemania, he turned back the clock and gave us one more great one. Whether it be NWA, WCW, or WWE, this man had the it factor on full display at all times. The void left by Steve Austin or The Rock is significant enough. Imagine the void left by a man with four decades of work to his credit. With all due respect to Hogan, his matches were in full decline 9 years ago, crashing with that AWFUL match against the Ultimate Warrior in his brief {and I do mean brief} return to WCW in 1999. Ric Flair indeed had a flair for the dramatic. Wrestling, {which is already on the decline in my opinion} just won't be the same.

As a wrestling fan for the past 11 years, you've made Monday Nights for me and millions of others memorable and enjoyable. We move forward in hopes that we'll find a superstar that can at least measure up to 75% of your legacy, but those hopes grow dimmer and dimmer.

Thank you, Ric Flair... for Everything.

Enjoy your retirement

I embarrassingly admit to watching the WWF/WWE Hall of Fame inductions on Saturday nite in which Flair was the primary inductee. Watching a video retrospective on his career was definitely interesting.

Despite the scripting of the matches, wrestling can still be considered a contact sport (entertainment) and to do what he did for as long as he did is pretty amazing.

Wrestling is acting, and Flair was a great actor.

Good luck, Ric.

my sentiments exactly...lost in people bashing it as fake is the fact that the entertainment itself is incredibly difficult and requires a lot of athleticism...

I have the most respect for Ric Flair out of almost anyone in professional wrestling. A 16 time world champion, a class act, and a great person. Doing something for 35 years is not easy at all, and Flair seemed to make it look like it was a piece of cake. We'll miss you Ric.

you do realize that being a 16 time champion just means he won...and subsequently lost the title 16 times...right ; - )

A wise man once told me that the wind blows hardest at the top of the mountain. and Flair went to the top of the mountain 16 times. The majority of which during an era when the belt only changed hands maybe once a yr

I definitely agree with you, BigPPup. Someone like Ric Flair who has been in the business for so long who has been a world champ 16 different times is just amazing. He has wrestled the best, he has beat the best, and he is considered one of the best professional wrestlers in history.

I have to say, I watched Wrestlemania because of Flair and I watched Raw last night because of Flair. I was standing up in the middle of my living room with tears coming down my face, when the Horsemen came out and I saw the tears in Flair's face. I'm going to miss him something terrible, Flair was my idol as a kid, and he still is today, I'm not sure that a day goes by that I don't say a Flair quote at least once. He was the best in ring performer ever. And he will be greatly missed.

I choked up when I heard that Four Horseman Theme, That was like a timewarp. It was so great what they did for Flair last night and also having him wrestle his last match at Wrestlemania against the HeartBreak Kid Shawn Michaels.

I can only imagine what the WWE will do when the UnderTaker or Triple H walks that aisle for the final time. Wrestling really needs to examine it's roster of young talent for charismatic wrestlers with athleticism and personality. They need to start pushing the Carlitos, Santino Morellas {He's entertaining, let's be honest} CM Punks, and most definitely Sheldon Benjamin. Sheldon Benjamin has given some great matches and the WWE needs to start pushing him over.

I grew up watching NWA Wrestling when Greg Valentine & Ric Flair were partners! He ALWAYS was the most entertaining wrestler and had us as kids mimicking all his phrases and tag-lines. It's was amazing to see how he had a huge influence on the Charlotte Hornet's fans and is still a star in North Carolina today! You're the BEST Ric Flair!

There will always be only one Ric Flair. As a "heel" or as a "face" he was equally entertaining and natural - and his longevity is unequalled. Wrestling is already not the same anymore without him. Regarding his championship totals though, here is an interesting anecdote for everyone who followed the Nature Boy's illustrious career - click here
