Two weeks ago, Big Brown won the Derby from the No. 20 far outside post. This time around, it's the run for the Black Eyed Susans in Baltimore as he’ll test himself under Kent Desormeaux from nearly the middle of the pack.
It might be karma for this horse. Big Brown has only been in four races but he's won all four. He might be the one to break the string of non-Triple Crown winners. It may happen. Granted, Big Brown's not in this race alone. There are 13 3-year-olds in this field and Pimlico is a little more of a challenge than Churchill Downs. I think the big chestnut is more than up to the challenge.
So, my trifecta for Saturday (without the mint julep, going for the Blue Crabs this time, kids) is Big Brown, Gayego and Behindatthebar. There are plenty of long shots this time around, with six horses at 30-1, so betting on any of these horses and winning (which could happen) could bring you some major coin.
Can Big Brown go 2 for 2? Anything's possible but my money's on Big Brown.
