About the Author

Cougar2000
There are some things about sports I don't like... the New Yuck Muts, the University of Michigan and those ASSCRACK UGLY HELMETS, the Floridamn Gayturds and the Miami Crimicanes. I also think that NASCRAP and professional wrestling are a HUGE waste of air time on television and would rather watch women's Jello wrestling!

Playoff picks - Round 1

By now, everyone knows about "Survivor" and "The Weakest Link." The NFL has something similar to those shows. It's called the Playoffs (or as Jim Mora, Sr. would say, "Playoffs? Are you kidding me?" Playoffs?"). There are some really good matchups this weekend. Hope everyone has their chips and beer kegs purchased and the hot wings and pizzas ordered and NO "Honey Do" lists, ladies. We've got some burping and football to watch this Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday's Games

Washington Redskins at Seattle Seahawks - These two haven't met since the Seahawks went to the Super Bowl a while back. The 'Skins were given up for dead, given all the problems that team had (the timeout fiasco, Sean Taylor's death) and they rose to the occasion when they needed to. Seattle, on the other hand, could have used another shot of espresso against Atlanta last week. I think that Holmgren's bunch will be playing a bit on the pissed off side and will take it out on their visitors from the nation's capital. Going with Seattle, although Washington will put up a fight.

Tennessee Titans at San Diego Chargers - The Titans, who are nothing more than Houston Oiler escapees, backed their way into the playoffs. It would have been nice to see the Browns in the playoffs, but as Mick Jagger once said, "You can't always get what you want." The Chargers, on the other hand, haven't won a home playoff game in a while. Time for that streak to end. Chargers BIG!

Sunday's Games

Jacksonville Jaguars at Pittsburgh Steelers - Pittsburgh has not played its best football of late, Jacksonville is the one team in the AFC that didn't win a division that scares me to death. If I were the Steelers, I would review every inch of game film from the last game these two teams met and break it down, clip by clip. Jacksonville played like they didn't fear the Steel Curtain the last time they met and they will treat Pittsburgh like a pillow fight at the Playboy Mansion. Jaguars, even though Ben and Company will try to make it a game.

New York Giants at Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Okay, so the Giants did give New England a run for their money last Saturday night. I was somewhat impressed with Eli Manning and how they almost beat the bullies on the beach. Back to reality. Tampa Bay is not, repeat, is not New England. The only good thing is that they're playing in Florida. Buccaneers in a close one.

I agree with your picks except that I think Washington will also pull off the upset.

Washington will beat Seattle. The Skins want a chance to play Dallas one more time this season, also Washington is the hottest team in football.

Whereas I agree with you that the Skins will most likely beat Seattle... I would have to say the Patriots are still the hottest team in the NFL. 16-0 is a tad more hot than 3-0. Seattle is a tough place to play, that 12th man adds a whole new factor, especially in the Playoffs.

If you could only spell Sargent correctly, then I may take it as a serious insult. :)

I do so apologize, but if you are going to correct my spelling, maybe you should spell it correctly too !

meh...I dunno really...when was the last time a team with a buy in the playoffs came in as the hottest team...it doesn't matter because you get a weak off... and typically those teams had it wrapped up already...so weeks 16 and 17 didn't matter all that much...

Last I heard Big Ben may not play and they are on their third-string left tackle. I think it may be a JAX blowout. I agree that the Giants are goign to lose and the Cargers big. I am really excited to watch the slobber-knocker that will be SEA and WASH

Ben is gonna play. Brady is on the injury report too. This game will show us all how Tomlin can adapt.

it'll be news when Brady isn't on the injury report...he's had a nagging "injury" for like 4 years now...

Dang. Got logged out! I am the anonymous Buccaneer's fan. If they win on Sunday, hopefully they get to go to Dallas for their next game rather than the Green Bay tundra.
