Having just seen Terry miss for Chelsea, which cost the team the Champions League trophy, I decided to do a bit of digging to see various penalty misses that were crucial to the game. Here go 10 of the best:

John Terry - Champions League Final 2008 vs. Manchester United

Marco Van Basten - 1992 Euro Semi Finals vs. Denmark (they eventually went on to win the cup, and they never even qualified for it, but were let in due to the DQ of Yugoslavia.

I remember watching Baggio's miss way back when. That's about one of my earliest soccer memories.

Note how lots of these involve England. We just don't do penalties well! :(

I was just talking about this with a couple of friends of mine last week. I have no idea why there are so many cases involving England.

Yeah, I remember but what can you say, the stress is enormous sometimes...

Yes, it is, A QQ. At least for Beckham... I suppose that England always gets on the negative end of every single (last) penalty kick. :P

But John Terry's was not the last it was vital, it was Anelka who screw it up...

i would like to say that sometimes the players shot is a good one but manytimes the goalkeepers are on the spot to make an amazing save Ricardo of Portugal and Dudek for Liverpool to name a few.

Terry's was not the last but had he scored Anelka would not have had to take it, so u could say it was a crucial miss. Then again if Drogba hadn't got himself sent off then Terry wouldn't have had to take it. In the end a miss is a miss.
