There are some things about sports I don't like... the New Yuck Muts, the University of Michigan and those ASSCRACK UGLY HELMETS, the Floridamn Gayturds and the Miami Crimicanes. I also think that NASCRAP and professional wrestling are a HUGE waste of air time on television and would rather watch women's Jello wrestling!

New Cubs ownership may change name of ballpark? The man is a HERETIC!

Sam Zell hasn't had control of the Tribune and the Chicago Cubs a year and already he wants to change the name of the piece of land on the corners of Waveland and Sheffield. That piece of land? Wrigley Field. Right now, Mr. Zell is the most hated person in Chicago, other than Al Capone and Mrs. O'Leary. What if all of a sudden the Vatican wanted to change its name? Or if the Grand Canyon wanted to not call itself grand. I can just hear Harry Caray turning in his grave.

Mr. Zell, I have one piece of advice for you. Before those loyal Cubs fans that live in the Wrigleyville area and Cubs fans burn you in effigy, leave the name of the field alone! The Friendly Confines of the Chicago Tribune doesn't roll off the tounge. It's not broken, don't fix it! If you want to sell the team, that's fine. But changing the name of the ballpark is totally un-American and borders on heresy!

True. But why change history? Even when Candlestick changed its name, they still called it 3Com Park at Candlestick Point.

That still sounds awful, are you suggesting 3Com Park at Wrigley wouldn't be a difference either?

Actually Sam Zell wants nothing to do with the Cubs. He only wanted to buy the Chicago Tribune and immediately put the team up for sale after the deal was completed.

There will be new ownership for the Cubs but the deal is complicated ironically because of Wrigley Field itself. It is an old stadium sitting on very valuable real estate. Hell chunks of the stadium fell off a few seasons ago. Not everything was meant to last forever.

After 100 years of futility, this fan would gladly exchange the name of the ballpark if it meant a World Series win. And when it is all said and done, the name will be intact, just with a douche corporate name out in the front.

And don't forget it is WRIGLEY field. Three guesses for that particular product....

Wrigley's Gum. Their corporate office is in downtown Chicago.

Yip indeed, and Wrigley himself would be the first to agree to sell the rights to the ballpark name for a few dollars more.

Cant argue with that logic, i mean when was the last time a professional team didn't act with their own profit interest in mind?

I thought the Wrigley family sold the company a long time ago?

Why the hell would anyone want to buy the Tribune?
