After Mitchell rolled out, I gave you my takes from a major league, and player perspective on Mitchell. After a couple weeks of sifting and digging, my reporter Christopher Hadorn and myself have figured out why, unless there is radical change in the politics of baseball, performance-enhancing substances (PES) are here to stay.

Bud Selig rolled out a minor league plan for tough PES testing in 2001 that was supposed to be the standard in substance testing done right. MLB touted the .36% positive rate in the minors in 2006 as proof that the system was working.

Until Mitchell found a whole bunch more.

We did too. We also spoke to the experts about PES testing, and players in the minors who know how it gets evaded. We'll tell you about the double standard that actually encourages PES use, and the bigger picture that Mitchell was too chicken to touch in his report.

Who gives a damn about whether the minor system works? You should, if you want to see PES gone from the game. Usage starts somewhat in high school and college, with the majority of the juicers who make it to the Show launching in the minors.

Selig created the system for MiLB because they're not part of the players union, the MLBPA. So the question is: If he can't stop it where he can act unilaterally, how is he going to get Don Fehr and the PA to do any better when their collective bargaining agreement (CBA) blocks the Commissioner's office and mires the process down with stonewalling lawyers?

armchairgm gets a nod in the article and two of you are quoted for fan sentiment in the story.

(Putting on my Ty Flame-resistant suit): You are welcome to check it out, if you like.

You mean this isn't the whole article?

Hey, Mln.. you do what you gotta do to do what you do. Tyrone only complains about half articles because he's always so busy protecting his half identity. Don't worry about that fraud.

In the meantime, in my opinion, your teasers have very little "tease" to them... (until you start calling out "Ty", that is...)

I'm gonna defend your right to post what you want here and link what you want here, because regardless of how much you charge for your wares, at least it's authentic and not a shroud of bullshit.

Prezdent's Inglish, Alex...

If he wants to blow his marketing budget on 1/4 Armchair posts and a link, then by all means...

You only go fishing until there's no more nibbles... and eventually people will learn that fishing in AGM with links is like trying to catch fish on the moon.

Well, why don't you post it all here when you know people don't like it?

Let him do it his way. If people don't like it, they should shut up and read part of another article. It's not like Mln is the greatest cliffhanger writer and you'll go crazy if you don't read the resolution to the story...

You want to pay my guys for writing it? How about the SI guys? Again, most of the Sports SSEs have a vehicle for pegging outside news. Maybe instead of wasting time flaming me, help AGM set it up so it can be on the right channel. Then everyone is happy. There is a value to real news from paid professionals. We give everyone the first page for free to decide for themselves if they think it's worth it or not. Generally our readers are not disappointed.

WHAT? Real News has no value. Whether Britney Spears of Johan Santana does something crazy tonight, I'll still wake up in the same bed tomorrow!!! The earth will continue spinning whether you are the first person to break a story or not... and tomorrow it will be old news anyway. And ahem... The Mitchell report is OLD news (and it wasn't exactly new news when it came out) Get a grip on reality! And I think you should let people know without having to pay if they are being quoted or not. Your protocol really sucks.

Manny - First, we have offered both of the folks being quoted free subscriptions for the year. Second, first pages are free. Third, we only charge $11.99 for the year. Oh and, last.. If you think Mitchell is old news, think again. Capitol Hill wasn't satisfied with MLB's answer to anything, and hearings are going forward. If you read the story on Dick Pound, the former Chairman of the World Anti-Doping Agency, he's not backing their play either. Think on this for a moment: Mitchell was just a snapshot. All of the problems with performance-enhancing substances are still very much with us, and still ruining the game.

1. We're a wiki. This means that we pride ourselves on FREE content, not previews to premium sites. 2. You may be right that those issues are still news, but your preview doesn't cover that. It's about the minor league policy, which has JACK SHIT to do with anything current, especially considering you admit it won't happen in MLB

Prophet: Doping starts at MiLB. The Commissioner controls MiLB policy. Anyone who thinks that has jack shit to do with it knows jack shit about baseball.
