There are some things about sports I don't like... the New Yuck Muts, the University of Michigan and those ASSCRACK UGLY HELMETS, the Floridamn Gayturds and the Miami Crimicanes. I also think that NASCRAP and professional wrestling are a HUGE waste of air time on television and would rather watch women's Jello wrestling!

Lord Stanley's Cup

And then there were two.

It’s time for the cup to come out. This time, it's going to have an East Coast flavor. No Ducks, no Stars. Not even a Flyer.

This year’s Stanley Cup will feature two teams that know something about the world’s most famous trophy. They are no strangers to Coupe Stanley.

Detroit has ten cups, while the Penguins own two. So let’s look at this year’s Stanley Cup Finals.

Detroit vs. Pittsburgh - A pair of teams that are familiar with Lord Stanley’s Cup. Sid Crosby finally takes his place on the NHL stage and does it faster than his boss, Mario Lemieux, as far as years are concerned. Pittsburgh had a better record in this year’s Stanley Cup Playoffs, going 12-2 to 12-4 for the Wings. This could be either an exciting series or a dud.

My money says that it will be exciting. These two teams were electric in the first two rounds of the playoffs.

Pittsburgh comes off an electric win at home Sunday against their state rivals while Detroit stumbled at Joe Louis last Saturday before taking care of Dallas in the Lone Star State. Chris Chelios missed game six with an injury but his services were not needed. Chris Osgood was electric tonight and needs to continue the trend for the Red Wings to be successful.

It looks good on paper. But then again, this is played on ice. That being said, I am looking for a great series, which could go seven. I am taking the Flightless Birds to go seven, giving Sid the Kid his first of what will hopefully be many Stanley Cups.

Detroit's too deep to be beaten in a 7 game series. Red Wings in 6.

I like both teams, but I would love to see the kids step up and take a title in 6 or 7. More than anything I'm looking forward to some fantastic games.

I might be the only one who think this is over in 4 or 5. Both teams have mastered the art of puck control. Whichever team controls the puck best will dominate the series. This is the time for the underrated Pens D to show what they are all about.

Rawb don't count the pens out. Crosby-Hossa, Malkin-Sykora and Staal centering the shutdown line. The fourth line is as solid as any in the NHL. With a stay-home defensman paired with a scoring defensman in each defensive pairing you can't say the Pens aren't deep too. What the Pens lack in this series is experience, other than that they match up very well.

I think the Wings will win, but I'm very worried by the Penguins. I think their stars are better than ours, I'd take Malkin and Crosby over Zetterberg and Datsyuk, and I'm worried about Osgood in goal. He's been a revelation so far, but Fleury is the better of the two. I think Osgood's game is the more likely to fall apart of the two.

Detroit is the favorite for sure

But if pittsburgh can come out shooting (figuratively), they have a shot...if they lose game one I think Detroit will probably win it all...games 1 and 2 and its over...

I'll probably root for the pens because they're the east coast team and i think its better for hockey...

How does any Flyers fan root for the Penguins after that team took out theirs? I'd really have to have a stronger dislike for the opponent for me to consider that. As I said in Porthenator's article, I believe the Penguins have met their match and this will be a long series. The strong possibility exists it could go the full seven games.

Here's hoping the Flightless Ones lift Lord Stanley's Cup.
