According to the Associated Press, Seattle Seahawks kicker Josh Brown has stated that he will be wearing heated warm-up pants in Green Bay, WI this weekend during the Divisional playoff game against the Packers. The pants have been fitted with battery powered heaters. These heaters are intended to keep his legs at a temperature of 75 degrees (24 Celsius) no matter how cold it gets.

The candy-a$$ excuse that Brown gives to the AP is that it’s harder for kickers to stay loose because they spend most of the game on the sideline.

The National Weather Service predicts games time conditions to be 17-28°F with a 20% chance of snowfall.

This is a man's game, right?

For the song of the day on Saturday at Lambeau, here's the Godfather of Soul:

A few points:

Why the hell is Josh Brown talking about what he will be wearing?

Who the hell is interested in what he will be wearing?

And finally, you wrote an article about a kicker being a "candy ass?" What's next, an article about a pitcher who isn't a good hitter?

When I grew up the Pats had a barefooted kicker by the name of Tony Franklin. Barefoot, in New England. I watched him kick in the f'n cold, f'n snow, and godforsaken combo's of f'n both of them! He was a man, he was a true football player. This guy is a p*ssy. The football gods will not look kindly upon him or the seahawks. I wish I had know this before I picked the seahawks to win.

Franklin was with the Eagles for a while before going to N.E.. They used to sell plastic "Tony's Toes" that you could put on your shoes to kick footballs with. I never owned one but I did my fair share of bare-footed kicking in the snow...

I remember Franklin. My memory is foggy, but there were several barefooted kickers and punters in the 70's. Dam, I wish I could remember his name. There was a barefooted punter who, it was said, would kick rocks as part of his training regimen in order to keep his foot tough.

Yay, let's make fun of people for taking advantage of technology! What happens if the Packers' kicker misses a game-winning field goal at the end of the game?

...and there are heaters on the sidelines. It's gonna be in the mid-20's. It's not like -10F or anything. Sheesh.

What do you think Lombardi or Halas would think of this?

By the way, the mid-twenties in Green Bay in January is nearly tropical.

Dude, it isn't just Brown. He is the only one who talked about it. The Linemen have heated gloves and Holmgren has a heated jacket.

the comapny is called Gerbing...or somethign like that. I guess they do work for the military.

So...Josh Brown wears the same thing as a guy in the military...who is the candy ass now?

This guy:

You cannot compare a kicker to a guy in the military. In a military application it's use is life or death. This is a guy who's afraid of his leg getting cold. He's a wimp, it's that simple. If anyone else is doing it then they are wimps too. Unless it's sub zero temps then they are all wimps.
