Let's get weepy over Brett Favre.

Brett Favre, the only quarterback I've ever seen who could throw 8 zillion interceptions and have everybody think its the coolest thing in the world.

Brett Favre, one of the most selfish players who ever played the game. Had to do it his way. "I threw seven interceptions today and I wouldn't take back a damn one of 'em!"

O.K., I admit that is not a direct quote, but that was always his sentiment. All he wanted to do was run around, heave the ball up, and pray for a big play. He could never contain himself.

Until this year. He was doing fine this year. He was playing within the confines of what the coaches wanted him to do. He was smart with the ball. Had one of his best seasons in 8-10 years...then he through it all away in championship game when he just couldn't help himself, and reverted to the old Brett Favre.

I know I'm supposed to fall at the feet of Brett Favre and genuflect, but I've never seen a guy get a free pass from the media and the fans as long as this guy has. The fact is he should have retired five years ago. All he's done is put the progression of Aaron Rodgers, or whatever quarterback will be taking over in Green Bay, behind schedule.

See ya Brett Favre. Try not to throw an interception on the way back to Mississippi.

I agree.

All he did was....

  • 9 time Pro Bowl selection...he declined to go this past season.
  • 7 time All-Pro selection.
  • 3 consecutive MVP awards for the NFL from 1995-97.
  • Super Bowl XXXI Champion.
  • Sportsman of the Year for SI's 2007 edition.
  • Most wins by a starting QB (160).
  • Most touchdown passes thrown.
  • Most passing yards of all time.
  • Most career pass completions.
  • Ditto with pass attempts.
  • Most games with 3 or more touchdown passes thrown.

Oh yeah, he threw the most interceptions ever.

Yawn, boring. The fact is he sucked for the last five years of his career and couldn't win a big game. Like I said, if he could have reigned in his own selfish needs to do things his way, he would have been a much better quarterback. That's called 'waste of talent'. Don't spout out a bunch of meaningless stats to me, I'm unimpressed.

When did Brett Favre ever demand anything from anyone but from himself?

The guy never pretended to be anyone but himself through the good, the bad and the ugly.

And he showed up to play. Every game.

'Nuff said.

I must've missed the day when Brett Favre demanded "land and water" from NFL fans. Geez, hating the guy because others liked him? Sounds more like jealousy than objective criticism.

I could show up to play and be bad and ugly too. That wouldn't make me a great player over that span of time.

If Donovan wins the superbowl this year (and assuming he plays pretty well, which he have to to win an SB) does he go to the hall?
