LaDainian, LaDainian, LaDainian

I really want to like LaDainian Tomlinson, I really do. He has the talent to be the best since Barry Sanders. However, every time it comes time for him to stand out, he simply doesn't come through. Sure, he's not Mr. Popular here in New England, but I'm a big enough fan of the game itself that I want to see the best players play their best. I want to see L.T. dominate a playoff game, I want to see the best RB in the league. But nevertheless, L.T. is Mr. Regular season: the NFL's Tracy McGrady.

Sorry Bolt fans, but the Chargers will never make the Super Bowl with #21 in the backfield. You blamed Marty Schottenheimer, by Sunday morning it will be Norv Turner and next season it will be lack of playmaker recievers, but in reality its L.T.; it's always been L.T. When he's a non factor, the play calling becomes predictable and it's not hard to win when you know what's coming (pause for lame Spygate comeback).

Darren Sproles and Michael Turner are very good backs who were never able to get out L.T.'s shadow, and with Turner having a great year over in Atlanta, the Bolts must be wondering "What if". What if they traded their star they could've had a 1000-yard rusher plus whatever they got for L.T. They should've sold high, but after another inevitable poor postseason they will be left wondering if they made the right choice. Sproles is amongst the fastest in the league, but he is no franchise back, so they are now stuck with a shoulda-woulda-coulda back headed in the wrong direction.

However I hope I'm wrong. Why? Because, like I said, I want to see the best at their best. That's why everyone loves the old dynasties, even though they often beat their own home teams. You hate to see Peyton Manning in the 2 minute drill when your team is up by a score, but at the same time you can't help but marvel his talent(unless your a serious hater). L.T. has Canton numbers, but he has a lot of catching up to do to be regarded as the GOAT.

Imagine a player had a torn tendon in their groin in week 4 of the season. How many games would he miss, probably a minimum of 4 and no one would blame him. LT apparently has that kind of injury and is thinking of playing with it anyway. My point? you wouldn't expect a good game from any other player a week off that kind of injury so don't expect a good game from LT if he plays either.

But isn't one of the attributes of a top-tier RB their durability? If he can't stay healthy for 16 games plus a postseason, isn't that a bad thing?

I used to like LaDanian Tomlinson until he whined and cried about the Patriots upsetting the Chargers in the '06 playoffs. FU, LT.

I feel the exact same way. If the Patriots have no class for doing the Lights Out dance, then how is Shawne Merriman himself, your teammate and creator of this ridiculous "dance", classy? What a stupid comment. And then he thought he was all cute after Spygate with his "if you ain't cheatin' you ain't tryin'" comment. He got this rep of being a classy guy, but it seems like he's taken a holier-than-thou attitude ever since.
