Kerry threatens NFL to make sure New England Patriots game is available for all to see

Those Rascally Democrats! John Kerry, the New England Patriots, and the National Football League

Congress is on break, again, until January 18th. But that's okay. With all that hard work they do they need a break, right?

But there is one Democrat that has recently made the news for all of his hard work. You may recognize his name: John Kerry. Why is Mr. Kerry in the news? Seems that Senator John Kerry is an avid football fan, specifically a fan of the New England Patriots (hmmmm, Senator from Massachusetts, okay, that makes sense). Well, the Patriots are one game away from an undefeated season, and another march through the record books. And John Kerry is going to make sure that we all have the chance to see the game. Kerry asked football commissioner Roger Goodell to move the game to NBC from the NFL Network (so that we can all watch the game), and threatened Senate hearings if he does not do as asked.

Talk about a misuse of political power.

As opposed to the Republicans who make gains by exploiting the American people.

I don't see why this is a problem though. I think everyone should have a right to see the game. Congress isn't in session, so what better do these guys have to do?

Oh wait that's right, they get to go home to their sons and daughters and enjoy the holidays with them, while thousands upon thousands of other parents have to send holiday letters to their sons and daughters that the politicians have shipped overseas to fight pointless wars. But that's a discussion for another day.

Yes, exploiting the American public is unique to republicans. You make me laugh Corey. I feel Bush could possibly be the worst president ever, but pointing out his faults wont hide those of the democrats.

"I don't see why this is a problem though. I think everyone should have a right to see the game. Congress isn't in session, so what better do these guys have to do?" Are you serious? How about make sure every child has healthcare, a full belly and roof over their heads to start. Perhaps they could walk the walk and actually cut off funding for the war. Cause right now they talk a good game, but when the votes are counted they can't seem to do what's right. You don't think both sides of the isle are profiting from the war do you? Of course not, the Democrats walk around with halos over their heads while the Repulicans stick them with pitchforks, right?

It's a volunteer army. This is not Vietnam, no one is being drafted. Do you know why you and I aren't over there? BECAUSE WE DIDN'T SIGN UP FOR THE MILITARY. I have a cousin who signed up while in dental school. Our tax dollars payed for her education and now she has to pay the piper and fulfill her obligation to the military. Now, she wants out. I have no sympathy for her. They don't have signing bonuses and Montgomery G.I. bills for nothing.

Wake the fack up Corey, almost all of them are crooked. Red, Blue, Liberal, Conservative, Democrat or Republican, it doesn't matter. They all have blood on their hands. Vote 'em all out.

I actually don't vote either Republican or Democrat, dude. I just find it funny when people spout their conservative, Christian rhetoric thinking they're the answer to all of the world's ails when most of them are the reason this country is hated so much.

The problem with it being a "voluntary military" is that for many people who sign up, it's less voluntary than it is their only way to get an education. The military recruiters prey upon poor families who can't pay for education, so they sign up being promised a free college degree, now they're dying in vain for the greedy politicians.

I woke up a long time ago. How about you?

I woke up 30 minutes ago.

Both parties suck, the American voter sucks, the American non-voter sucks, and the two party system sucks.

But then again, at least we have a democratic system that sucks, as opposed to no democratic system at all.

I agree with you on that. Whatever happened to checks and balances, anyway?

Checks and balances actually exist to keep the system together, so no rogue element of government can radically change things. That's a good thing because it creates stability, but it also encourages stagnation.

I know what it is, Rawb. My point is your "rogue element of government" is radically changing things. It's called the executive branch. There are no checks and balances anymore, at least not the ones that don't concern bank accounts.

I'm more shocked that John "I propose legislation once every 10 years" Kerry actually showed some initiative and at least claimed to do something proactive. But I don't know how much of a Patriots fan he is. I have a feeling he's as much of a Pats fan as he is a Red Sox fan. Remember when he verbally combined Manny and Papi into Manny Ortez? I wonder if Tommy Bross is his favorite Patriot.
