The 20-0 Kansas Jayhawks suffered there first loss of the season last night to Kansas State.  This ended a 24 year home losing streak to the Jayhawks.  Kansas State came in on a little run, having won their last 5 which included victories over Texas A& M and Oklahoma.  This loss should come as a slight surprise to the casual college basketball fan, but not a shocker by any means.

Kansas has played some amazing basketball to date, and was due to have an off game.  Problem is they didn't really have an off game.  They shot 48% from the field and lost.  That is something that really doesn't happen very often in college basketball.  The only key aspect that Kansas State really took it to Kansas was behind the arc, where they shot 48%.  Beasley was 4-4 from the outside, and scored 17 of his 25 points in the second half, despite constant double and sometimes even triple teams inside.

If there is such thing as a good loss for Kansas, this would be it.  They lost on a ranked opponents home floor.  A team that minus a monumental breakdown, will be joining them in the big dance, with a seed anywhere in the area between 3rd and 6th.  The question however is how far will this drop Kansas in the polls.  I would be floored if they dropped anywhere below 4th.  But you never know in these polls.

This was definitely a fun game to watch, and for me as a person who really gets into College Basketball after football season is over, this was a great appetizer for what will hopefully be a fantastic tournament this year.  Now if only Rutgers could field a team.....A guy can dream right?
