Iverson Coming To New York

After his upsetting performance towards the end of the season with the Detroit Pistons; and finishing the season on the bench with an injury. Former Detroit Pistons guard, Allen Iverson is looking for another home.

The Memphis Grizzlies, Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat, and the New York Knicks have been rumored to showing interest in Iverson. The chances of Iverson playing for a contender is out the window, because winning a championship won't be possible. Which explains the reason why the Pistons aren't interested in bringing him back.

With the Knicks looking for a guard, signing Iverson won't be a bad idea. The Knicks need someone that can take over and be able to score points. The Knick don't have that superstar and that's what the Knicks are looking for.

The Knicks aren't going to be successful next season, so the worries of Iverson not bringing a championship shouldn't be entering the toughs of anyone's mind. The Knicks need someone to be a superstar and Iverson can provide that. He sells tickets and Iverson gives everyone a reason to watch the Knicks.

Signing Iverson to a one-year deal should be considered. Iverson won't need to worry about coming off the bench which is something he doesn't enjoy. The Knicks need someone to score and bring fans to Madison Square Garden.

Iverson is better then Knicks guard, Chris Duhon and he makes things interesting again for the Knicks. If Iverson is interested why not sign him?

Knicks head coach Mike D'Antoni's system will work into Iverson's style of play. Iverson is good with fast breaks and half-court systems. Last season, Iverson averaged 17 points and 5 assist a game. Iverson averaged over 5 assist for the last three seasons. He can't play defense which doesn't matter when your playing for the Knicks. The Knicks are a scoring team and Iverson is a scoring player.

It all makes sense.

???

Iverson is a horrible fit in D'Antoni's system and a worse fit on a team already paying luxury taxes out every orifice... and Iverson has too much pride (and game left) to be the star of a second rate, one year Dog and Pony show in MSG.

You'll see Steve Nash in New York (which would make sense) before you'll see Allen Iverson (neither is happening). Hell, you'll see Stephon Marbury BACK in New York first!

Besides, it looks like the Knicks are going to sign Jerry Stackhouse which will put the tombstone on any chances Alley I joins the squad. Allen and Jerry aren't friends.

AI's what we like to call a "ball stopper"... D'Antoniball is predicated on ball movement... Hmm, this makes sense...

I could play PG for D'Antoni better than AI can... that's not smack talk or foolish bravado. I'm dead serious.

As a dedicated Suns fan through the early to mid- Aughties, I know where everyone is supposed to be, when and how to move the dribble to free them up if neccessary. I can pass pretty well, can definitely shoot 30-35% just as well as Iverson can (if not better because I won't have to 'create my own shot' and I got 6+ inches and 100 lbs on AI, creating matchup issues). Sure, I'm not going to take over a game for the last two minutes, but I can take a charge and would cost several million $$$ less... (Call me, Mike! I'm ready to suit up!)

I love Allen Iverson but NOT as a PG in D'Antoniball.

The days of Allen Iverson scoring 30 every night are long gone, but he's still better then at least half the shooting guards in the league.

Iverson is at the point where he's no more then a role player on any decent team, and if he thinks otherwise he is sadly mistaken.

Right now I wouldn't even put him in the top 10 for best shooting guards in the NBA.

Kobe Bryant, Brandon Roy, Dwayne Wade, Joe Johnson, Ron Artest, Vince Carter, O.J. Mayo, Ben Gordon, Jason Richardson, and Anthony Parker are all players who I would rather have on my team at this point then Iverson.

The problem with Iverson was the he was never a good outside shooter, and was never more then an average defensive player. His game was all about slashing to the hoop, which he did better then anyone at his peak, but he can no longer do that 20+ times a game, and it's made his weaknesses as a player all the more apparent.

He's got three years left in the league tops. Even this year could very well be his last year.

If there's one thing I've learned about Allen Iverson - NEVER count him out.

Dude is a lion. He has a ferocious appetite to overcome any obstacle.

We may very well see a resurgance from the little guy. He may change and adapt in ways none of us thought possible. But Father Time will win the ultimate battle and truly his days are numbered at some point...

I agree with Manny, he's strong and has heart. That's something he always had. Its going to be though for him, because he doesn't want to come off the bench.
