Its Amazing: Manny gets Suspended from Dodgers, America still talkin about Sox

Cue the Kanye--It's Amazing, We're the reason, everybody fired up this evening...

How does Manny Ramirez, currently on the Dodgers, testing positive for PEDs affect me? Well, besides sparing me from the hype that is Brett Favre, it means about as much to me as an ex-girlfriend's sex life. I don't give a damn.

1)PED is not steroids
2)The entire sport is tainted
3)There is NO proof he was on anything during his time on the Sox

I'm not gonna be oblivious to say it was probably just weed or viagra, but if you think that Manny was never tested from 2003 until now you are about as simple as he is. Sure, MLB is nowhere near its expected efficiency, but 6 years without a single positive until now. Something isn't right.

But what's hilarious is how everyone again resorts to their shift+8 to make themselves feel better about their inferior sports teams. I witnessed the Renteria groundout and the Seth Smith strikeout. I went to the parade, and I got pictures with the trophy again.

Cue the Kanye-- and noooo matter what you'll never take that from me.

Instead of worrying about AGAIN trying to hate on Boston, why not look at what this really means?

1)The #1 team in baseball is without their #1 player for 50 games.
2)The NL West is more open than Audrina on The Hills (and I believe that makes my 500th metaphor... not really, but I have a lot under my belt). 3)People will want more people under the bus.

As for what I think, I think he probably was on steroids as was 85% of the MLB, and this test is only a foot in the door. So like A-Rod's admission brought about 300 more claims, this positive which wasn't for steroids will bring the whole house down on Manny; just watch. I can see it now: a former teammate admitting they saw Manny take something in Cleveland. Then a book will come out. Of course, Manny will never admit it, and then he will be found guilty of taking steroids a couple years ago, indictment... all in all a HUGE mess for Manny, Boras and the MLB.

As for RSN, we will laugh it off. The Red Sox dodged a HUGE bullet by letting Manny go, imagine had they kept him and the Sox won last year becoming somewhat of a dynasty. Then again, the Red Sox are catching hell anyway because it's Boston, much like the Yankees are catching flack for something A-Rod did in Texas. It's amazing how everyone complains how the media act like the world is revolving around Boston and New York and the two biggest scandals to hit Texas and L.A. are reverted back to Yankees-Sox. As for the MLB trying to save face... again.

Cue the Kanye--It's a problem... that'll never ever be solved...

Manny Ramirez is already on record that he will not contest or dispute the 50 game suspension. Regardless of his rather checkered past, that makes him "more man" in terms of admission of wrongdoing compared to many, many of his colleagues.

I'm curious to see what he did. The JC Romero case this year was interesting because Romero maintains some sense of innocence, which has to do with what supplement he took (whether it be ignorance or stupidity) Ramirez isn't...so I wonder what he did...

We'll never know the whole truth and nothin' but the truth in either case. Manny would be smart to go mum, and Romero is just trying to recoup the cash penalty. I have little to no sympathy for any of these PED/roid guys.

The reports that I'd seen mention the Dodgers. It's like the Plaxico situation - that's the Jints problem - not the Steelers. This is all on the Dodgers and their one-man team.

Plax caught the Super Bowl game winning pass. I'd argue that he contributed mightily to their success. And it was the situation of - someone doing something to make their current team...not their former one - that I was saying was similar.

The situations aren't similar. Manny's PED use is believed to (or is generally believed to) contribute to on the field success...Plax's extracurriculars most definitely did not...

There are some bloggers and message boarders who are already suggesting (rightly or wrongly) that he may have been using PEDs during his time with the Red Sox...

Even if Plax was carrying a gun and doing stupid shit then, it didn't affect his team's performance in a positive and illegal way...

I think Manny has handled this very well so far. He said it was a prescription that his doctor said was alright, but that in the end it is his responsibility. He also mentioned that he has taken about 15 drug tests throughout his career and this is the first time he has come up positive. Humility goes a long way.

Manny? Humility? When Belichick got caught cheating and admitted to it, were you applauding his "humility?" When Belichick said he misinterpreted the rules, did you blame the guy who wrote the rules?

I said it above, but getting caught breaking the rules, then admitting you got caught is like telling your wife you cheated on her after she's walked in on you diddling the babysitter. No nobility there. He also got caught redhanded. This was no accusation, no "clubhouse worker" ratted on him, he pissed in a cup, it went to a lab, and alarms went off.

And how come he's going to a doctor that doesn't know what MLB's banned substances are? And I don't know about anyone else, but when I take something, I generally look into what it is, and I'm not even an athlete. But I guess steroids and PEDs haven't been that big of a deal in baseball lately.

I am sick and tired of Manny Ramirez being treated as a dumb child who simply doesn't know any better. Like when he left Boston in a huff, people here blamed his agent and not him. "Boras doesn't get a commission if he stays in Boston." When he slapped Youkilis, people somehow blamed Youkilis. "That was more Youkilis than Manny." You have a beef with your teammate, you handle it in the clubhouse, not the dugout for all to see.

If he's stupid, it's by choice. I don't think he's nefarious, or even smart, but he knows how to put his own pants on. Now he has to wear him.

To say this is "refreshing" or that he's "humble" is ridiculous.

I have to disagree Rawb. There is a certain amount of honor for accepting responsibility for your actions. For instance, I was watching my nephew one afternoon and I went up to my den and my Willie Mays autographed baseball was out of the case and sitting on the couch (I have two dogs, so a ball sitting out is likely to be destroyed). I went downstairs and asked him if had been playing with the ball. He admitted to the act and apologized. That was the end of it. All he got was "Please don't do that again". Now, had he lied to me I would have been pissed off and he wouldn't have been allowed back in the den which would kill him since that's were the PS3 is. Does Manny's apology and admission of guilt exonorate him? No. But it is a lot better than denying that he cheated.

Dude, say what you want about Manny (and I agree) but Youkilis is the one who went off the deep end, Youk was the one who went after Manny for not coming out during a bench clearing activity (because he was in the clubhouse looking at film, if I remember correctly) Youk's a douche and I'm just calling a spade a spade here

Youk may be a douche, but Manny was the one who turned things physical, and did so in public. It was also the second violent outburst of Manny's season. Manny doesn't give 100%, Youk got mad (understandably so), and Manny was the brat who hit him.

ST, I know what you're saying, and if Manny had told the people administering the piss test that he took this stuff, then he would have the same kind of integrity your nephew displayed. The about-to-be-caught-so-own-up kind of integrity. But he tested positive for cheating, then essentially agreed with what was already known. Again, this wasn't a rumor, it was a stone cold, undeniable fact. A-rod and Clemens can go around denying, and there isn't a smoking gun to contradict them.

You're praising Manny for not doing something that only a schizophrenic could do: deny an incontrovertible fact.

Every single professional player is provided a list of all banned substances.

If you fail a test, you are a complete moron.

JC Romero is running around suing everyone claiming no disclosure, but he still knew what was in his protein shakes was on the list.

Maybe baseball would have less suspensions if their banned substance list was in Spanish.

Call me naive, but I actually believe it's an honest mistake, because Manny always struck me as a guy who didn't really give enough of a shit to take PEDs... I mean, yeah, he obviously gave a shit about hitting, but it always felt like his attitude was, "I'm doing this for myself, on my own, not anybody else." These other big-name PED offenders (Bonds, McGwire, Palmeiro, A-Rod, etc.) did it out of vanity, out of a desire for people to think they were greater than they actually are. But Manny has made it abundantly clear he doesn't care what anybody thinks of him, so I don't see the typical motivation. He just never struck me as the PED type.

I actually think Manny cares a great deal about what others think of him. He pouts and throws hissy fits when people in Boston wanted him out of town. His name gets mentioned in trade rumors, and he doesn't come out to play. Then he's thrilled when the crowd cheers him on.

He's pretty insecure.

This could still be an honest mistake, but the rules are clear, and he broke them. Ignorance of the law is not an excuse.

I believe the incident with the traveling secretary was part of him acting more and more like a spoiled child because of his contract, not 'roid rage. It was an isolated incident of violence from a guy whose usual M.O. has always been passive-agressive bullshit. And it was Pedro that threw Zimmer to the ground in the 2003 ALCS, after Zim charged him. Manny overreacted to a pitch by Clemens that was high but not particularly inside, and that ultimately sparked the bench-clearing melee, but he didn't "attack" Zimmer (neither did Pedro). Like I said, almost all of the "Manny Being Manny" incidents have been fueled passive-aggressive, bratty behavior, not rage.

It was HCG.

Taken by a male, it has three possible effects/uses.

1) He is having some performance issues best left between him and Mrs. Ramirez.

2) As a diet drug.

3) As a synthetic testosterone enhancer. The HCG would show in a urine/blood test but not the increased testosterone level. Only what the body naturally produces shows in the test.

So, he was either juicing or JUICING.
