It’s Finally Over

The Green Bay Packers have announced the trade of iconic franchise quarterback Brett Favre to the New York Jets for a conditional draft pick. Official terms of the trade are not available.
Trade speculation is that initially the pick is a fourth rounder, but moves to a third rounder if Favre plays 50% of the Jets' snaps and on to the second if he plays 70% of the snaps and the team makes the playoffs. It could become a first rounder if Favre plays 80% of the snaps and the Jets make the Super Bowl.
More to come later, but perhaps Favre will finally find the closure he so desperately seeks.
I think that even those of us who thought that the Packers management team was taking the proper position as this entire saga unfolded have to feel conflicted over the outcome. I know I certainly do. As much as I dislike the division created by Favre and the Packer management team, it would have been nice to see him play one more time for the Packers. However, in the back of my mind is that the 2007 season was his last hurrah and there is nothing more he can give. Yes… I’m conflicted.
Anyway, this entire event has left the Packer fanbase angry and divided. Heck some fans have even been booing at practice and rooting for Aaron Rodgers to fail, only to be derided by other fans for their behavior
It’s not a very good time to be a Packer fan right now but this could become a shining moment. The people of Packerland have a golden opportunity to cement themselves as the best fans in the league by pulling together in our support of an organization that is bigger than any one player.
The autumn sun awaits. Let’s play some football.
