BigPPup
AGM Linebacker and I will bring the pain.

I'm a sports fanatic. I hail from Nelson County Virginia, and thats where I learned to be a Virginia Cavalier fan. I also learned to be a Dallas Cowboys fan because I hated how good the Redskins were doing. I've played sports at almost every level with the exception of being a fulltime professional, as a result I have a great perception on the sporting world. I love to talk sports and I've never been shy to share my opinion with someone.

Wow, what a weekend, and I’m not even completely sure what happened considering that I watched all of 15 minutes of television, but that doesn’t matter, I am still an expert at my trade, and you can better believe that I am still angry and ready to do some ranting. So let’s kick get it started Walker’s Rants are a go!

I cannot handle any more Brett Favre and this will be my last mention of him….

The Sox should trade Manny, but they can never get rid of him…

I want to be a Cowboy…

I am so happy that training camps opened up this weekend, Lord Football is here…

Well at least the U.S.A. can pound Canada…

Devin Hester is not worth 4% of a teams salary cap…

I like that players are going over seas to become star players…

The tires they gave the NASCAR guys were terrible, no excuse for that poor quality…

Congrats to all inducted into the baseball Hall of fame this past weekend…

Chad Johnson will be a distraction, again…

Could the falcons actually go 1-15 this season?

Virginia will crack the Top 25 at some point this season…

Margarito is a straight baller…

I hate ESPN Radio, always ruining a great thing…

Who is the face of the Chargers?  I say Rivers and that could spell some trouble…

The drought in Philly is over way to go picking up an Arena league title…

Jim Zorn… I just feel sorry for you…

The Carolina Panthers will suck this season and miss the playoffs…

Mark Cuban smokes up I like him even more…

A coin tosses to determine who gets the first snap at Bears practice.  Yeah there’s a team that’s going places…

Hmm...

1) Manny won't be a Phillie...bet on it

2) Lost in the Favre hubbubaloo is the Joe Horn concerns in Atlanta...Horn apparently hasn't studied his playbook and is simply showing up to avoid the fines. PFT is suggesting Atlanta will hang on time him just long enough to screw him over...fascinating

3) How 'bout them soul...wait...what?

4) And yeah, about Margarito...I watched the fight (couple of buddies and I PPVed it). Talk about totally worth it. The undercard featured 2 knockouts over 3 bouts and the third (a flyweight) was a total slugfest for the small guys.

Margarito - Cotto lived up to every expectation. All offense, fluries of punches and 2 iron jaws. In the end Margarito just wouldn't be stopped. He wanted it more and took everything Cotto had. At one point Jim Lampley (HBO's play-by-play) suggested that Cotto punching Margarito was like "hitting a brick wall" and it didn't matter how hard or how many times, Margarito just would take it, unphased and counter.

If you're not a boxing fan, watch that match...it could save the sport...just amazing...

Hell, the Packers have bigger problems, on their own team. Their starting runningback is in a hold out right right now.

Word on the street is that Brandon Jackson is looking much improved. T^2 is in no hurry to overspend on Grant.

I didn't see the fight, (I have this thing about 49.99 fight cards), but I followed it on-line via ESPN's round tracker. From the round results, it appears to me Cotto shot his load early, he had a big lead, then lost three rounds in a row before the TKO. I'm kind of surprised at how it played out, actually, and I expect to see the fight (free) here in the next few days.

Yeah, that's basically what happened. Cotto was very strong early on, but couldn't keep it up. Margarito just kept pounding away and it paid off in the end. I agree with you about paying for the fights that's why I go to a nice local establishment (or a bar in Dallas as it happened this time) and enjoy some adult beverages while i watch

The fight play out pretty close to what was expected...which was a brutal slugfest...though Vegas (as of about a week prior) had Cotto 2-1.

I dunno if he "shot his load early" but he did peter out (heh...zing!). I'd say he just kept expecting Margarito to fall after one of his many vicious rights and he just didn't...

Margarito willed this victory...he wouldn't be denied

Was Cotto out of shape? With a lead that big he could have sat on it for two or three rounds, then finished strong. Seems like when Cotto lost it, he really lost it. I would have liked to watch it at my father in law's house in Puerto Rico, although the end result wasn't very favorable. Boxing his huge down there, and Cotto is the man boxing wise for them now.

Not from what I saw, he just didn't have enough in the tank to knock Margarito down and he just kept coming like a truck. More of a test to Margarito's will than anything Cotto did wrong. Well now Margarito can take his place at the top of Mexican boxing market. Up there with Chavez and such.

Margarito looked in better shape, and I have the video of the KO downloaded onto my computer, and from the looks of it, Cotto fell down by himself in that 2nd knockdown and just ran away, something I don't see from him too often.

Cotto has one problem that will lead to more losses. Cannot take a punch to save his life. If you can hit him often, you don't have to be a bruiser, just hit him, he will fall apart. Ricardo Torres 4 years ago knocked him down and could've killed him if he could punch.

Remember, Margarito is normally not a fast starter (I say normally because he destroyed Kermit Cintron twice within 6 rounds), and he has more stamina than Cotto. He just saved up his energy, he can take a punch, and came for the kill.

Now, as to what Margarito should do, he should just blow the De La Hoya thing off (unless he is interested in knocking out the Golden Boy) is fight Paul Williams right away. He lost to him the last time, and even though Williams got his revenge on Carlos Quintana, he is a little too wild at times. I think Margarito can beat Williams in a rematch.

I think you hit it on the chin (no pun intended) when you brought into question Cotto's chin

Huh...Cotto doesn't have a glass jaw at all...the guy can take punches with the best of 'em, which is why this fight was so hyped (Margarito can too...look at the film). He also wasn't particularly out of shape. Same old self, thought probably too relaxed (but that's his style)

If you've got a video of the KO SSR, its news to me...because there wasn't one. And that Torres knockdown sorta proves my point, Cotto got up and dropped him a few rounds later

Cotto took punches all night, the difference was so did Margarito...and Margarito kept coming and coming...

If I were Margarito, I'd take De La Hoya...they'll be more money and an easier match. Margarito's time is now and to waste it on someone of William's stature would only damage Margarito's rep outside the boxing world

I think Margarito can beat the brains out of De La Hoya so that wouldn't be a terrible idea.....

For all the Virginia predictions you have been making, you missed the coming out party somehow.
