In Which Jay Mariotti Returns to the Desert

Alas, all they saw was me, taking the only form of transportation the hotel could provide in taxi-dry Arizona. - Jay Mariotti

Evidently the streak for common sense appearing on the back page of the Chicago Sun-Times has abruptly ended after only two columns*.

Today (or is that tomorrow?), Jay Mariotti implies in the first three paragraphs that his entrance to the Cubs training camp via limo was bombarded with an overzealous media frenzy. Oh, puhleaze.....

It seems for the next little while, the dwarf will claim to "cover the scene" (isn't that a house reporter's duty?) during the Cubs spring training. God only knows why the Sun-Times elected its laziest and least reputable sports "journalist"* for this task. And one can only help but wonder how hard and furious Jay incessantly lobbied for such a prestigious Lisagor-bound assignment.

Or perhaps maybe Mariotti is desperately seeking the affections of Sam Zell for job security and personal fetish fantasies that include the notorious Inez wedding dress hanging ever so prepared in his hotel closet?

Jay seems a little self-conscious today over the matter of taking a hotel town car to the Cubs camp. After all, he only spent a third of today's self-serving filth detailing the horrific ordeal in great detail. It seems that the pundit was unable to find a taxi in Mesa. We're here to rescue Jay in order to prevent another paparazzi scrum. Never say that those dreaded Internet creatures are not useful.

King Cab & Shuttle (480-981-0999)

Yellow Express Cab (480-217-5505)

Shadow Mexico (480-464-2988)

Mesa Metro (480-833-5155)

Safeway American Taxi (480-834-7233)

A Union Cab Co (480-303-9999)

Green Cabco (480-317-9999)

Cabco (480-777-7900)

A Taxicab & Transportation (480-668-8225)

Now Jay, pick up your pink cell phone and dial one of the above numbers. And don't forget to leave a tip to the driver that is not in the form of change. After a few miles of driving your arse to the Cubs camp, it will be money well earned.

For the most past, there aren't a lot of cabs in Mesa - WHY would there be? It's a town of 300,000 old people. It's NOT Chicago or New York, numbnuts.

And hasn't he been there before? You'd think he would have a routine down by now...

However he's not even taking into consideration the thousands of Mexicans that slap a magnet on their cars and give people rides.

Here's a bigger question: Does he know how to drive? Can't Scum times rent him a car??

To be slightly fair - I'm sure the 'Spring Training Creatures' -and the Cubs DEFINITELY have the most of 'em - probably did cause a ruckus at every limo in the parking lot. even Mariotti's. He might even been asked for an autograph or three...

When I walked in HoHoKam Park for Arizona Fall League action in October (after the Cubs were swept by the D-Backs) they had people head-to-toe in Cubs gear - FOR AFL GAMES!!!

Would it be a problem to the admins if - for now on - I refer to Facktard in the proper "U" context?

The douche spends a third of the column* prattling about pretending to be Paris Hilton or something getting mobbed by the press while in the car.

My guess is that a drug intoxicated whorish Hilton operates a car with more skill than F_cktard.

Please keep us posted on the deteriorating air quality while "It" has infested in AZ.

The air already smells better around these parts.

I'm kinda bored today. I might swing by a couple sites and see what's going on... A's, Angels, Giants and Cubs are all minutes from my house.

Wanna freak out F_(seriously - please let me use the "u")cktard? Bring a huge sign - "Jay is a Joke" to the Cubs camp. Guarantee that more than a few players will know the meaning.

Wifey told me I can go to any of the training sites today as long as I take one of the kids...

Sounds like something I could easily do, but I think I'm gonna try to get me some creds and sit in the press box instead... (WHY am I so lazy? I should have taken care of creds MONTHS ago!)

Let me see what I can do today...

Well, I got into the Giants practice yesterday and met with the media relations guy (too bad they're not all as cool as Rays' Rick Vaughn) and they won't issue creds unless I am on assignment with "a major news organization" and even then, they need a letter from my organization.

"If we gave out creds to websites and freelancers, everyone would want in."

Telling him "but I'm really good" was not enough.

Founders - Do we have any AGM letterhead? I have the contact's name if you wanna try this...

I'm meeting with the A's on Tuesday. I don't think they'll be as stingy since they suck. Plus I might play the "look professional" card. Anyone have a briefcase I can borrow??
