I'm officially sick of ESPN

There have been many times in which ESPN have pushed me to the brink of nausea with the absolutely non-credible articles that they have posted on their website. It is for my undying passion for sports in general that this website even makes its appearance on my Internet History. Unfortunately, I have been pushed past the stage of nausea and actually felt like I was going to gag after seeing the following nonsense:
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/trainingcamp08/news/story?id=3528454
ESPN, the soon to be ex-worldwide leader of sports has decided in it's own infinite wisdom to take it's already insane coverage of Brett Favre to yet another level. With ESPN basically posing as the Brett Favre network for the last month, I didn't think that was humanly possible.
In today's training camp practice, Nick Mangold and Brett Favre apparently had a fumbled exchange. Under the rules of Eric Mangini, one has to run a lap around the field if he happens to put the ball on the ground for any reason. These rules apply to the legend, the icon and the media darling Brett Favre. Brett Favre was treated to a rousing ovation when he ran around the field with Nick Mangold. There's no issue on my part with the ovation from Jets fans during the lap although both players felt it was a bit weird to be cheered for during a penalty lap. I bet you that the cheering fans never imagined in their wildest dreams that they would see a legend dawning their uniform and throwing crisp bullet passes to the point that they are saying Chad who?
The issue here is that ESPN has decided to post this nonsense on their site like this is relevant news. This has to mean everything he does is fair game. Stay tuned for an article about what sandwich he had for lunch. Did he have ham and cheese? Parmesan? Peanut Butter and Jelly? Why stop there? I can imagine reporters will be snooping in to see what the color of his football gloves are and what deodorant he uses before practice. In a practice last week, Jets OG Alan Faneca had two false starts and subsequently two practice laps to run that day. He's the highest paid offensive lineman in the NFL. There was no breaking news. There were no Youtube postings. In fact, most of you are probably hearing about this for the first time. And you know why:
IT'S IRRELEVANT!!!!!!
The article linked above is just another piece of evidence to show you that ESPN is on the ropes as a whole.
In fact, the entire media is on the ropes as a whole.

Now, yes its irrelevant, but now instead of it being odd, it's now the norm to post irrelevant information.
When ESPN had the World Cup in 2006 I thought it was the worst telecast of a tournament since.....actually ever. I want to know about how Costa Rica playing the ball to the man on the right wing will be a key for them, instead, I get info one how they don't even have a military.
ESPN (and frankly the rest of the North American media) can get away with this talk because they are a force that can't be stopped, and as long as the people's expectations are not high, they'll deliver crappy coverage.
I have not watched SportsCenter for months now because it's repetitive garbage The Yankees, will they make the playoffs? Also, the Rays are playing. ---- Brett Favre this.......Titletown USA.
I think there is a clear reason why MSM does not want bloggers involved because its like an unofficial voice of the average Joe watching their network. For the few that have the balls to question and call BS on their shenanigans, the MSM tries to shut them up because they know that someone else will read this and say "Hey, he's right. I won't watch this stuff.", and that's not good for them at all.
And frankly, NBC's Olympic Coverage is garbage as well. Granted, they put in coverage of everything on all of their networks, but you would swear they are just saying whatever the heck they want with comments like these:
"Countries that have beach volleyball training facilities like the Netherlands, and Europe."
The US bias is horrific, did you know Michael Phelps was swimming today? Did you know Dara Torres is 41? Did you know that some kid from Africa grew up without a father while the mother died from AIDS? Irrelevance over and over and over again.
They take obvious jabs at China, and as far as I'm concerned, China is the only country that puts pressure on their athletes to perform well. It's so awful......
And Matt Lauer making fun of Hungary's uniforms and talking about Malawi (some reference about Madonna adopting a kid from there) is 100% classless.
The commentators never shut up, and for a country that brought the largest crew outside of China, they sure aren't helping themselves by having just under half of their sports being called from a monitor in New York.
None of the events are showed live west of the Mississippi, and some times they are showing events that were played the day before.
They don't care anymore, they know whatever they put up there will be accepted by the general population, while the guys like you and I will turn away from this.
I wish you guys could watch the CBC's coverage, there is bias towards Canada, but the commentators are quiet for the most part. When they do talk it's 100% relevant to the event they're covering, and with the exception of 1 or 2 sports like soccer and weightlifting, everyone is in Beijing.
Sorry for the long comment, but NBC's coverage is disappointing and irritating me, and it kills me that I have to watch this in 2010 now that CBC has lost the rights to the Olympics.
