About the Author

Romiezzo
My name's Romi Ezzo and I'm a huge sports fan. My favorite thing in the world is baseball, and hopefully, I can become someone involved in sports, whether it's being a sports writer, an analyst, a commentator, or maybe just sticking around here at ArmchairGM editing stuff, and commenting every once in a while. Playing sports is what gets me going, and when I feel like I don't have the energy to actually play baseball, basketball, soccer (football), or American football, I'll just play some MVP, NBA Live, Winning 11, or Madden. My favorite baseball player is Derek Jeter (who I idolized growing up... yes, even though I'm a Red Sox fan), with Dustin Pedroia, Ichiro, and Jacoby Ellsbury in a close 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. I cannot choose a favorite basketball player (it seems like I have a different one each season). I like Dwight Howard, Kevin Garnett, Hedo Turkoglu, Amare Stoudemire, Chris Paul, Steve Nash, and Dwyane Wade... just to name a few. I'm a New England fan, which means that I love the Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics, and Bruins. I'm glad that I can talk sports to a bunch of people that have the same in common that I do.

Keep Armchair GM alive! :)

  • FYI, the "situation part" (the part that states the score) is the score after the home run is it. ** And, on a second note, the first part of the score is the score of the home run hitter's team. The second number represents the opponent's team.

Notes:

Carlos Pena of the Tampa Bay Rays still leads the Majors in home runs (6). Mark Reynolds (Arizona Diamondbacks), Mike Jacobs (Florida Marlins), Justin Upton (Arizona Diamondbacks), Raul Ibanez (Seattle Mariners), and Bill Hall (Milwaukee Brewers) are all tied for second place with 5 homers; no one hit their 6th homer yesterday.

Jeff Francis of the Colorado Rockies is still in the lead for the most home runs surrendered so far this season with 6. Bronson Arroyo (Cincinnati Reds), Brett Myers (Philadelphia Phillies, Roy Oswalt (Houston Astros) Jason Bergmann (Washington Nationals), and Todd Wellemeyer (St. Louis Cardinals) are all tied for second place with 5.

Remember, you can always have the privilage to cast a vote for the "Homer of the Day" in the comments section down below. Feel free to discuss who should win today or who should've won yesterday.

Homer of the Day (April 12, 2008)

And the Homer of the Day of April 12, 2008, belongs to...

Manny Ramirez (3 votes)
Manny Ramirez (3 votes)

With this season being his last year of his current contract with the Boston Red Sox, Manny Ramirez knew that he had to make something happen this season in order to be re-signed. With a scoreless game, 2 outs, and no one on in the bottom of the 4th, New York Yankees' Mike Mussina threw two straight sliders for balls. He then threw two consecutive fastballs, which were both called strikes, making the count 2-2. After throwing a cutter, Manny fouled it off staying alive at 2-2. With Manny being in the Majors for a while, he knew that since Mussina has a good curveball, he was going to throw it eventually. On the sixth and final pitch of the at-bat, Man-Ram tatered the pitch way over the Green Monster for a solo jack. Manny had 3 RBI's at the end of the game, and that home run was the difference maker of the game, as the Red Sox defeated the Yankees 4-3.

The others who received votes were:
Rafael Furcal of the Los Angeles Dodgers (1)
Raul Ibanez of the Seattle Mariners (1)
Gabe Kapler of the Milwaukee Brewers (1)
Carlos Pena of the Tampa Bay Rays (1)

On a side note, I'd like some sort of a logo for the "Homer of the Day". Since I'm not great with pictures and stuff like that, I'm going to have to ask AGM for help. If it's all right with one of you guys, I'd like to have a logo. What would I like on the picture? Well, whatever you want, as long as it says "Homer of the Day" on there somewhere. Thanks a lot in advance.

Sorry guys, for the late article. Thanks for your patience. I'll be sure to catch up. It's my weekend, and I'm free, so... you'll be sure that I'll be working for the next couple of days.

BTW, you guys have the time between now and whenever I post the homers of April 16th to vote for the "Homer of the Day" of today.

Chipper Jones, simply because he doesn't get enough love 'round these parts.

Surely, you can say that he doesn't get enough love now. He has hit 4 homers within the past two days, along with one on the 13th, to give him 5 home runs in 6 days. He's on fire now, and he leads the Braves (even the Majors) in many offensive categories: OPS, SLG, batting average, home runs.
