I know that the MLB baseball season is far from over...but I heard today Austin Kearns was shipped to Zona. So keeping that in mind I am going to put all of you out there in the GM position for your favorite team. Below you will find a list of the Class of 2009, the current list of players that are eligible for free agency after this season. Your job? Tell me if you would make any moves for your team this year or tell me whom you would like to go after to either fortify your team if it is strong already or help build it up if you think it sucks. Get at it, and let's see what everyone out there is thinking. Sorry I haven't posted in a while...I have rheumatoid arthritis and my health has even forced me to put my sports-talk show on hiatus since April. But I'm feeling much better now and it is time to get back to work! It's great to be back with the community again...I missed you guys!

First Base: Teixeira's the cream of the free agent crop, if I have to settle for anyone else on this list, I deserve to be fired.

Second Base: Felipe Lopez getting released in his walk year raises red flags all over the place. So does Orlando Hudson's inability to play a full season. Maybe take a shot at Ellis, everyone else is not worth a phone call

Shortstop: I'll pass here, thankyou

Third base: ditto

Catcher: All backups, unless someone wants to play for the minimum, there's nothing here.

Outfield: The Rays already exersized Crawford's option, he shouldn't be on the list. Dunn, Burrell, Kotsay and Ibanez are worth going after, either as OF, DH, or 1B. Everyone else is old, forget about them.

SP: Not alot of quality here, but certainly quantity. Almost every spot in the rotation is available, from a #1 (Sheets), to a number five. I'd take ten guys, throw their names in a hat, and give a call, see what they'd take.

RP: Anyone who blows their free agent budget on a relief pitcher is a facking idiot. There's alot of interchangeable pieces here, but I would low ball every one of them, KRod included, and see what I can land. Unless I'm a total shit factory like the Braves, totally devoid of pitching prospects, I probably have one or two guys in Double or Triple A better than most of the guys on this list.

Greg Norton hasn't been on the Rays since 2007. He was has been signed by Seattle, released and signed again... with Atlanta.

More importantly, he hasn't played 3B since 2004.

Casey Fossum also was released MID-season from Tampa last year and last played with Detroit. Jay Witasick was released as well and has essentially retired due to sucking.

I hope Theo Epstein and Brian Cashman hang on your every word.

He copy/pasted the list, probably from MLB.com, which was published before the season started. At the time, Norton was still property of Tampa. The other two are listed because the Rays are the last organization they belonged to. He is guilty of bad editing, not bad research.
