AGM Linebacker and I will bring the pain.

I'm a sports fanatic. I hail from Nelson County Virginia, and thats where I learned to be a Virginia Cavalier fan. I also learned to be a Dallas Cowboys fan because I hated how good the Redskins were doing. I've played sports at almost every level with the exception of being a fulltime professional, as a result I have a great perception on the sporting world. I love to talk sports and I've never been shy to share my opinion with someone.

from Clear Channel, that Union Head Gene Upshaw was found dead in his home earlier today. Early reports are telling that Upshaw died because of Pancreatic cancer. He was diagnosed with the disease just last week.

Upshaw was the head of the players union for the last 20 years. Recently he has gotten criticism because of his stance on the retired players pension fund, as well as the upcoming bargaining agreement with the owners.

He was #63 and he died at age 63. Odd.

I had a lot to say about his dealings with the owners and players and that in the late stages of this contract I didn't think he was fair to either the new or older players. But One thing can be said about Mr. Upshaw was he lived and played with his head high and he will be missed by one and all. Even his critics, who have been many in the last few years, will miss his opinions and leadership. Goodbye to number 63 and may God Bless you. He will always be in our hearts and souls because of what he tried to do and really died trying to complete his work. Gene Upshaw I for one salute you and say thank you for everything you have done for your family and for professional football. Rest in Peace.

People close to him didn't know he was so sick, makes sense why he fought so hard about medicare for retired players. Takes a strong man to fight for what is owed, and keep personal motive out. With that being said, the United States Air Force no longer gives full medical to its retired soliders, what makes a football player so much better? Mr. Upshaw, you did good things for the NFL, whether i agreed with you or not i believe that the PA will miss your prescence and wisdom. And, well you bring some dignity to that Raider Nation....for that all of us hang our heads and take a minute to say goodbye, knowing a "good-guy" has passed on.
