Florida Gators Too Good To Be True??

This Gator Football 2009 edition will be trying to win the National Championship for the third time in four years. When you look at the strength of the returning players it is not hard to understand why they are the huge favorite to repeat in 2009. Oddsmakers have set the early line for them to repeat at +240.

Today Handicapper Craig Trapp will preview this years 2009 Gator squad and give his prediction for this year! Also check out his recent CFB preview articles: Notre Dame and USC Trojans!!

Offensively this team has been very good the last three years and with the best player in college football, Tim Tebow, don't look for this team to miss a beat. Not many times can an offense lose there top two receiving threats and still not miss a beat, but that will be the case for the Gators. Riley Cooper and Deonte Thompson will fill in at WR and both be huge playmakers for the Gators. Florida will also have to replace two offensivie lineman but with the mobility of Tebow they will be fine this season. Coach Urban Meyer is a genius with the spread offensive system and he will once again have this team hitting on all cylinders this season.

Defensively the Gators return all 11 starter from last years best SEC defense. This defense has to be one of the best defenses in recent years. Many NFL experts think this defense will have all 11 starters drafted and most of them in top 3 rounds. Linebacker Brandon Spikes is the captain of this group and he totaled 93 tackles last season. Defense used to be a majore issue for Florida but now this side of the ball is capable of winning games by themselves if needed. This team has depth, speed, and an intensity that will carry this team to another SEC Championship.

Oddsmakers have set the Gators regular season wins at 11. That is a gift considering that they will win 11 games for sure. This is the easiest regular sesaon scheudle they have had in years. Only a road night game at LSU on OCT 10th should have backers concernced. Would be really shocked if the Gators don't finish the regular season undefeated and vying for anoghter National Championship!! Take the over 11 regular season wins and love it all the way to the bank!!
