Federer Gets Served

Those who saw the French Open final between World Number One Roger Federer and clay court master Rafael Nadal, will still be in a state of shock. Not because Nadal won his fourth straight title, but at the way he won it. 6-1 6-3 and 6-0, total annihilation of  the best player in the world. Federer said he wanted this title more than anything in this world but by today's performance I think he has a lot of reassessing to do. Nadal almost had him at last years Wimbledon and I'm sure he will be stronger this time around. Coming back to todays final, everyone would have surely expected a fight from Federer, but he went down without even a whimper. He just refused to change his game and kept playing into Nadal's hands. This takes Nadal's French Open record to 28-0, unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He has not lost here ever. He has certainly declared himself the greatest clay court player ever and will be around for a long long time, he's just 22!!!!!!!!!!!!. This brings me to another point, and it regards the seeding at this particular tournament. The French Open is the only clay surface and is a game on its own. I was just wondering after seeing Nadal's domination, should he be given the number one seeding just at the French Open, maybe to enable to clear the way for other up and coming players. Im sure Djokovic could have given Federer a run for his money but runs into Nadal everytime because of the 2 and 3 seeding. Nadal has proved himself time and time again and has earned his place in French open folklore but still does not have the number one seeding here. I know its about overall consistency but such dominance has not been seen ever before and maybe needs to be looked into. Its just a thought and highly debatable.

Federer's just infamously bad on clay...talk to anyone about it in a few months, after federer adds another 2 or 3 titles and it won't really matter...

I don't think Federer is as bad on clay as Nadal is good. If it weren't for Nadal, Federer would have won the French open several times already.

French Open is Nadal's tournament, period. I could tell Nadal was going to take this one fast. He was just on a tear. Clay is his game, now he needs to bring that to the hard courts, which is another thing.

When can we say Nadal is the top men's tennis player?

He beats Federer nearly all the time no matter what surface and just kills him in the French Open....

You can call him that after Federer retires. Nadal hasn't beaten him off clay since Dubai in 2006.

Yeah,I did except a little more from the world number one. I would have liked to see Monfils in the final instead of Fed. Why? Not beacuse I think he would do better then Fed but just to mix it up, its always Fed v.s Nadal in the final. Also it would be super weird to see Nadal as number one, how many weeks has he been number two now? Bovice out.

Monfils???? ... Don't you want to see Federer have a chance to win the French? That is more interesting than some dumb Nadal, Monfils match up. This is like Federer's most important tournament, theres so much riding on that one tournament and you want to see monfils instead??? yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah ooo k

My ego is large, so large that it's often confused for alter egos. It's a common mistake.

Indeed. Hey, he was hungry. I love the fact he got the sandwich from the stands...it was a random sandwich. It could have been made of anything, but he just ate it.

First of all Nadal isn't the Best yet, he is tied with 4 wins in row in Clay with Bjorn Borg that did it in 1978-81, however if he wins another one next year he would break the record of CLAY.

Federer in the other hand, has won all grand slam champions ships except the French Open, he will be the one of the people accomplish that(People that won all Four Fred Perry (1933-34-35),Don Budge (1937-38), Rod Laver (1960-61-62),Roy Emerson (1961-63-64) and Andre Agassi (1992-94-95-99), that is why Federer is Number one seed, because people believe he would win the FRENCH Open before retiring.

he was developing his skills in how to win in clay but what too late when Nadal started his career as a tennis player. Federer is considered to be the BEST TENNIS PLAYER OF ALL TIME.
