FOX's NFC East Lovefest

With the latest NFL announcing schedule released, Buck and Aikman will call ANOTHER Cowboys game, this time Dallas @ Washington for the Redskins chance at the playoffs. You guys may or may not be surprised at the number of games this duo did involving the Cowboys, and the NFC East in general. A very organized stat line shows the Cowboys games on FOX, and the regional games called by the lead announce team for FOX (Buck was away to ruin the World Series).

Regional games involving Cowboys on FOX (9)

Dallas Cowboys @ Miami Dolphins - Kenny Albert, Daryl Johnston, Goose

St. Louis Rams @ Dallas Cowboys - Joe Buck and Troy Aikman

Minnesota Vikings @ Dallas Cowboys - Kenny Albert and Troy Aikman

Dallas Cowboys @ New York Giants - Joe Buck and Troy Aikman

Washington Redskins @ Dallas Cowboys - Joe Buck and Troy Aikman

Dallas Cowboys @ Detroit Lions - Joe Buck and Troy Aikman

Philadelphia Eagles @ Dallas Cowboys - Joe Buck and Troy Aikman

Dallas Cowboys @ Washington Redskins - Joe Buck and Troy Aikman

That's right, Buck has called 7 of 9 Cowboys games, and Aikman has called 8 of 9. Besides, why the Rams? Anyway, that looks like a lot of nepotism towards Dallas. Most of these games merited a top team, but some are just head scratchers. Now let's expand that to the NFC East bias FOX has.

Games Buck (or Albert) and Aikman Announced:

Chicago Bears @ San Diego Chargers

Green Bay Packers @ New York Giants

New York Giants @ Washington Redskins

St. Louis Rams @ Dallas Cowboys

Seattle Seahawks @ Pittsburgh Steelers

Washington Redskins @ Green Bay Packers (Albert)

Minnesota Vikings @ Dallas Cowboys (Albert)

Washington Redskins @ New England Patriots (Albert)

Green Bay Packers @ Kansas City Chiefs

New York Giants @ Dallas Cowboys

Washington Redskins @ Dallas Cowboys

Green Bay Packers @ Detroit Lions

New York Giants @ Chicago Bears

Dallas Cowboys @ Detroit Lions

Philadelphia Eagles @ Dallas Cowboys

Green Bay Packers @ Chicago Bears

Dallas Cowboys @ Washington Redskins

Do the math folks, that would be 13 out of 17 games in which the lead announce team calls a game involving the NFC East (15 of 17 involving the East or North). For what reason? I don't know. The only thing I can think of is that some of these games had playoff implications...or it shows how bad the NFC South and the NFC West are. Interesting stats. My condolences go out to those who live in Philly, New York, Dallas, and Washington DC.

Wouldn't being sentenced to having Joe Buck announce your game be more of a hatefest than a lovefest?

What's really sick is that in all the examples you gave there have been precisely ZERO times a former Cowboy has not called the game. In modern journalism it's apparently OK to disregard conflicts of interest.

They're announcers, not journalists. Not quite the same standard. Ref. Meteorologist v. Weatherman However, I do believe that a conflict of interest still exists. I think they should be impartial.
