Just awhile ago the starting defensive tackle for the Colts was arrested on drug possession charges. When is the NFL going to get with the program and not sign this type of individual player to even a contract.  If they can't follow the simple rules during the season then where will it end.  Johnson's record is terrible from college to the pros, one thing after another. Granted he is very talented but that doesn't make up for what he did and how he put the team and league in the position of oh yeah just another pro football player doing pot, like it is no big deal, when it is a big deal.  These kids have to step up and take control of their own lives and respect the other players and league for giving them a chance to make the kind of money they are making playing a kids game.

Yup. The moment that your John Hancock goes on your contract, what you used to do for recreation (i.e., drugs, hang gliding, shark fishing, etc) stops! The downside of being a professional athelete is that once that contract is signed, you're then property of the franchise that you just signed with, period! To be fair, though, there's also negligence on ownership's part for signing some of these guys when they KNOW that some of them are going to be nothing but trouble!

"once that contract is signed, you're then property of the franchise"

That would be called "Indentured Servitude" which is illegal in this nation and abroad. These men are not "owned" and should be entitled to their own lives outside of work just like you and me. It's the owners faults for investing so much into the athletes. They created the problem and now they are chasing their tales trying to fix the problem. You can not own someone no matter how much you have invested in them.

Because William Randolph Hearst made sure it would be... After all, marijuana KILLS!!! Haven't you ever seen Reefer Madness?? Plus that damned hemp is nowhere near as fun to chop down as trees are!!! When you gotta blame something, might as well blame God's favorite flower!

The Colts have de-activated him for this week, and he'll be released. Would you prefer tarred and feathered?

It get's even better. To quote the article, "During the traffic stop, Johnson would only open his sunroof. That's when the deputy smelled what he described as "fresh marijuana". A search of his vehicle uncovered 10 grams of marijuana. The deputy arrested Johnson for speeding and possession."

Not only speeding, but smokin' down while doing it.

I wonder if he tried to claim that the driver's window didn't work so he could only communicate via the sunroof.
