Bad light played spoilsport in what was turning out to be an interesting day of cricket with both teams dominating certain sessions. New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat in the second test against England at Old Trafford. The kiwis got of to a good start with the openers putting on 80 for the first wicket. Sidebottom struck twice getting Redmond and new man Marshall with the score on 86. The kiwis slipped a bit when opener How was dismissed for a well compile 64. At the end of days play which was cut short and allowed on 54 overs to be bowled, the kiwis were 202/4 with Taylor still unbeaten on 67. The moment of the day came when a bouncer from fast bowler Anderson went through the grill of batsman Flynn to hit him square on the face. Blood spewed all over the ground and he had to be rushed to to the hospital. Oram was the batsmen replacing the injured man. this was the second time in as many tests when Oram has replaced and injured man. Last time he went on to make a hundred. The pick of the bowlers however was Ryan Sidebottom, who finished the day with 2 wickets at an economy rate of just 2. Play is scheduled to start a little early tomorrow.
