Earl Weaver Tirade Audio: Explicit Warning

This is the most shocking tirade by a major league manager that I have ever heard. This to me even tops Lee Elia's tirade when he was managing the Cubs. I personally don't like the language Earl Weaver uses in this audio clip but it shows how little regard Weaver had for the fans to put this stuff over the airwaves. I am almost positive this was not broadcast word for word over the Orioles network.

It will be interesting to see what comments are after readers hear the clip.

This is not for anyone that objects to profanity so don't click on this link if you object. http://www.fugly.com/audio/610/Earl_Weaver_Tirade.html

OMG! Earl Weaver had a foul mouth?

Yawn... it's baseball.

My manager in college only ever said two phrases in the 3 years I spent under his tutelage.

"What the Shit" and "Ah, Fuck me"... that's it.

I was convinced "What the Shit" was my name and "Ah, Fuck me" is what he called everyone else. Turned out I was close.

"Ah, Fuck me" was also what he called a ball, an error or any call by an umpire he didn't agree with.

If he ended those phrases with a question mark, it was a good thing! Like if a guy hit a HR, it would be "What the Shit?".

But it was very confusing, really. He'd said "what the shit" one time in the dugout when his shoes came untied and I thought he was talking to me so I responded "Need me to warm up, Skip?"

He started tying his shoes and said "Ahhh, Fuck me"... that was awkward...

Your coach could have learned some new words from Weaver.

Have you ever heard Tommy Lasorda unedited?

You aren't allowed to be a baseball manager if you can't dig deep into the foul insult bag. It's tradition.

BTW - John McGraw was the worst of them all... most of his insults were of the criminal assault persuasion.

Never suspected Lasorda to talk like that. Still like Lasorda regardless...he was as loyal to a team as there was...forgot why he left the Dodgers...not sure if he really wanted to leave.

I am reading a book about the 1908 baseball season and the author mentioned how bad a mouth McGraw had.

former MLBer Jim Eisenreich (I'll always remember him as a Dodger) had Tourette's real bad and would curse incessantly as one of his tics; he even had to retire for 3 years to have it treated, but that's a little different I suppose.

And who replaced Eisenreich when he went on the restricted list? Some fat guy.

Kudos to Eisenrich for playing 15 seasons and hitting .290 lifetime despite the handicap that made some fans act rudely toward him.

Puckett was an upgrade over Eisenrich. Hadn't heard the name Joe Schultz in years...read Ball Four about 25 years ago it seems so forgot what Bouton wrote about Schultz.

Eisenreich was a good player. As a hitter he was compared to a cross between Carew and Brett. Plus he was a good outfielder, in my opinion at least as good as Puckett, maybe a bit better, (Kirby couldn't throw). Puckett won a bunch of gold gloves, I believe Eisenreich would have as well.

Eisenreich hit over .300 all 4 years with Phillies. And he stole 27 bases one season.
