Eagles finally make a splash!

The Eagles signed Pro-Bowl CB Asante Samuel to a 6 year $57 million dollar contract yesterday. Can you say, STOKED? It's about time the Eagles got a CB to complement Sheldon Brown better. Not that Lito is terrible, but he's oft-injured, and I personally believe Brown is the better DB. I don't know what this holds if the Eagles will keep all three or move Sheppard or Brown, but this gives us a great CB on one side and is a great step towards improving our secondary.

Also, the Eagles released Jevon "Freak" Kearse as well. About damn time. He was a major bust during his tenure here. [1]

Actually, I'm not super stoked...Samuel is a risk taking corner who will get an equal number of burns to picks...

the other thing is, Brown's rumored to be moving to safety, but given Mikell and Considines talent, I think it'll work out...at the very least, they have 3 good corners and 3 capable safeties...so I could see Brown moving back and forth depending on Lito...

I think they're overpaying, but I'm happy the contract is frontloaded...

I'd like to see a DE, but I think they might make that move in the draft...a DE in the draft can translate to the NFL much better than other positons...

I'm in a wait and see here...not stoked, but I can't complain, its an improvement...

you're on the right path as me matt, i think the eagles need just one more impact DE...but i think this could be had at the draft... and of course a receiver...

A good corner nonetheless, runs us 3 deep at the position now. ANd COnsidine has talent? I didnt know road bumps were talented. Mikell should start if we went that route.

I know we need a DE, but our secondary was weak anyway, with Lito hurt often, our #3/#2 was Will James. So, I'll take this signing.

You gotta take risks sometimes to get those big momentum changing plays. Lito does it too.

you're right...i mean considine's a quality backup...Mikell is the better player if i can say this, he's a typical hitter safety...but i'd take him over a few starting safeties...

everything i've heard on the radio is that its frontloaded...

plus, for all of the eagles poor drafting (bad 1st picks) and poor signings (kearse, Howard, etc), when have you seen them cut players for cap reasons? If there's someone i think knows what he's doing, its banner...

that doesn't mean i think Samuel's worth it (like you said), but i think its worth the pay for the eagles...typical given the market...

Not to burst the bubble of Philly fans.. LOL but having watched Samuel for a long ..long time he is not a shutdown CB and now is way over paid.. Law and Milloy were twice the players Samuel will ever be and they ended up being average at best after leaving the Patriots.. there "D" works as a team and makes player look better than they usually are, you think Philly would have noticed since Samuel couldn't carry Laws Jock and he ended up be a non factor on his new team as well. When a player has a Tattoo thats says "Pay me" like Samuel does that telle me hes not a team player which is obvious by the big plays he gives up when trying for a highlight film INT which is his only play.. lucky for him Harrison was there to stop the TD.. don't believe me look at the stats.. now that hes sucked up a "LARGE" chunck of salary cap for philly there cook for 4 years.. LOL not that they were ever very good these last few years..
