About the Author

There are some things about sports I don't like... the New Yuck Muts, the University of Michigan and those ASSCRACK UGLY HELMETS, the Floridamn Gayturds and the Miami Crimicanes. I also think that NASCRAP and professional wrestling are a HUGE waste of air time on television and would rather watch women's Jello wrestling!

Cy Peavy beats Disastros 4-0 at Petco - Game Recap

Cy Young Award winner Jake Peavy picked up where he left off from the 2007 season with seven strong innings and helped his own cause at the plate by driving in two runs as the San Diego Padres shut out the Houston Astros 4-0 at Petco Park in the season opener for both clubs.

Peavy gave up only three hits in seven innings of work as the Astros begin life without Woody Williams, Brad Lidge, Luke Scott, and Craig Biggio. Roy Oswalt took the loss for Houston, giving up three runs, all earned, in five and a third innings of work, striking out six.

Adrian Gonzalez paced the Padres, going 2 for 5. Khalil Greene and Josh Bard chipped in with 2 for 4 performances, while Paul McAnulty went 2 for 3. Houston's bright spot was newly accquired shortstop Miguel Tejada, who went 2 for 4.

That's what most fans call the team, after they went belly up like an overfed goldfish against the White Sox. All that talent, trying to beat the Braves in post season and then when they do, they choke.

They have been called the "Disatros" for years, well before the 2005 World Series.

No offense, but this is five sentences I could have read on ESPN.con and other than the title offers no opinion... this should be what used to be a "Game Recap" function or maybe a "news" item?

The two Texas teams in majors both have major pitching problems. By releasing Williams and paying him off it shows they would rather pay $6 million to get rid of him than to have him contaminate the mound another year.

The sad thing is Williams played for UH, which meant that he had to do well in front of the home folks. He and Berkman were the only two guys on that team with a Houston university connection. The Astros organization needs to be overhauled for its own good. There's just too much talent.
