AGM Linebacker and I will bring the pain.

I'm a sports fanatic. I hail from Nelson County Virginia, and thats where I learned to be a Virginia Cavalier fan. I also learned to be a Dallas Cowboys fan because I hated how good the Redskins were doing. I've played sports at almost every level with the exception of being a fulltime professional, as a result I have a great perception on the sporting world. I love to talk sports and I've never been shy to share my opinion with someone.

College Football Season May be Over, But Walker's Rants Has No Offseason

Okay so I won’t lie, I’m pretty sad about the regular season in college football being over. So, I figured the best thing to do with my frustrations was to vent them out, in one big glorious rant for everyone to read. So saddle up, it’s time for another edition of Walker’s Rants.

The Pacquio vs. De La Hoya fight was great.  I say that because it was great to see De La Hoya get man handled like that, by such a smaller guy.  Also it felt good to see his career come to an end with him giving up in the corner…

One Groh has been fired, it’s not what I wanted, but it is a step in the right direction.  Is it bad I am actually hoping for another 5-7 season just so they will fire Al Groh?

Never thought I’d say this, but it’s seriously time for the Dallas Cowboys to consider other options at the quarterback position…

Ohio State has no right in a BCS game…

As much as I like Sam Bradford, Tim Tebow earned my Heisman vote on Saturday night…

It felt good to watch the Redskins collapse before my eyes on Sunday night…

Xavier is not the ninth best team in the country, sorry Muskie fans…

It kind of makes me sick to hear the numbers that are being thrown around at the MLB winter meetings, during the worst economic crisis I have ever lived through. Something has got to change in the sports culture and soon…

It’s a shame to see the U.S. Sevens team tanking so bad on tour this winter…

The ACC got 10 teams into bowl games this season and I can honestly see 7 of those teams losing. What happened to that conference?

I will miss Greg Maddux next season…

Quote of the week: “Don’t disrespect De La Hoya for getting old. Respect Bernard Hopkins for still kicking ass at 43.”

I never thought there could be a worst GM than Isaiah Thomas, and then I saw Kevin McHale. Now McHale is going for the full sweep and prove he is a worst coach that Thomas was.  Throw in a lawsuit and Kevin McHale might be the worst GM of all time…

The Miami Dolphins turnaround is pretty amazing…

I need the Detroit Lions to win two of their next three games so I can earn my 12 pack of Miller Highlife.  Come Lions I’m pulling for you…

The only team that has impressed me thus far in college basketball has been UNC…

I wonder how short the leash just became for Jim Zorn…

Congrats to Lenox Lewis for making it into the boxing hall of fame…

Never thought I’d say this, but it’s seriously time for the Dallas Cowboys to consider other options at the quarterback position… - Can we go back and look at all the times i said Tony Romo sucks. When is Bum's son gonna start looking for a new job?

Ohio State has no right in a BCS game… - 100% agreed

“Don’t disrespect De La Hoya for getting old. Respect Bernard Hopkins for still kicking ass at 43.” - Yeeeaaaaaahhh. I like Hopkins but what he did with Calzaghe only proves how dirty he really can be...

Get rid of Romo? Show me a better option for the Cowboys and I'll discuss it. Until then, this is crazy talk. Have we forgotten the days of Quincy Carter and Chad Hutchinson already?

Mentioning Romo's lack of playoff wins is always good for a laugh, but it makes for a poor comparison. Put it this way: if the Eagles dumped McNabb in the offseason, and your only choices were Romo, Carter or Hutch, who would you pick?

I agree with TT on this one. I know you hate Romo JT so F' off that comment is for people who actually gave the guy a shot. I'm just thinking he is not the right fit for the Cowboys. Too many costly turnovers, you know its bad when I wasn't surprised he threw a pick to end the game on Sunday. Now where I agree with TT is, don't just cut him for the sake of cutting him. There has to be someone able to fill the void right away, and obviously that person is not on the team right now. I don't know what the right choice is, but the point of my comment is they should begin exploring options. Draft a QB in the first or second round and start grooming them. Or look to make a trade. Right now its not working.

JuT, I know you didn't say dump him, and I'm not making a comparison to McNabb. I'm just trying to get you past playoff win totals in evaluating a QB. They might all have zero playoff wins, but clearly Romo is a better QB than Carter or Hutch.

in almost 3 years of starting in the NFL, Tony Romo has thrown 43 interceptions... Those numbers compare favorably to Jon Kitna...

Very true. He is very careless with the ball, and when someone better comes along, I'm all for an exchange. But until then, he's the best thing the Cowboys, and many other teams, have at QB.

I don't think you cut him but it is definitely time to start looking for some other options. Romo can't win when it counts. Both in the playoffs and in big games in the regular season. He has fantastic stats, he's just not a winner in my eyes.

I'm not sure it's fair to say that. The Cowboys did not lose those playoff games because of Romo's quarterback play. Of course you are always looking to improve your roster, but the Cowboys have bigger needs than QB.

I also said Terrance Newman sucked...of course you need to stay on the field to suck...sooo...what can ya do...

You wanna know who needs to go to fix the cowboys?

Wade Phillips and Jerry Jones. Phillips also has just as many playoff wins as Romo...and he's coached many many more games

I certainly agree with that. I was tremendously underwhelmed with the Wade hiring, but he was the right man after Tuna for one year. This year, the Cowboys have gone completely soft, Wade hasn't been "Mr. Fix It" for the defense and clearly has no control over the team. I also don't like that Garrett has basically been told he is the head coach-in-waiting. Am I the only one that thinks he's not that great of an OC?

He's a good OC, but its hard to judge a guy when you've got an offensive line that has good talent and numerous weapons (like I mentioned above)

Owens is a good receiver (he's no longer great) and Williams is a nice complement. Barber and Jones are going to be an excellent combo but this team is all glitz and no guts right now

Owens is a total headcase, who can give a team moxy and take a lot of heat off guys like Romo by being an act (TO that is)...that really helped the Eagles in 2004

But adding guys like Tank Williams and Pacman Jones and having a less than respected headcoach (like Phillips) just makes the place a circus

Parcells, for example, knew when to let guys roam free (Jimmy Johnson did too), but he also knew how to command respect and attention and how to get them ready for a game...

Romo is 4-8 in games played in December/January, and only 1 win came against a playoff team (the Giants)....way back in 2006.

Just say he isn't clutch, pleeeeeeease?

He may become the next Joe Montana when it comes to clutch play but for now he just cannot get the job done when it matters. Keep him at QB, but you can only wait at this point.

Let's be clear: Romo is NOT 4-8 in Dec/Jan--the Cowboys are. Football is more dependent on team than any of the other major team sports. This is not basketball where a star can win a game almost singlehandedly. This is not hockey where a goalie can stand on his head and at least keep his team from losing. And this is not baseball where an ace pitcher can go three times in a seven game series and just about win it by himself. As important as the QB position is, he still only plays half the game and is extremely dependent on what his O-line, RB and receivers do. I repeat: the Cowboys have not lost these games because of Romo's QB play, and he is by far not the biggest problem on this team.

But he's the starting QB in all of those games....

Last week he had 4 TOs and one that lost them the game. He threw an INT in the playoffs that lost them the game.....he fumbled the ball in Seattle and lost them the game. He fumbled away the division by losing to the LIONS.

It seems as if they aren't losing because of Romo, it's Romo's unbelievably bad mistakes down the stretch.

I never said he played mistake-free, and I also qualified my statement, limiting it to his QB play, which excludes the Seattle loss. As for last week, his four turnovers certainly didn't help, but they lost that game because of their defense in the last five minutes. I am only saying he is not the only reason they lost those games, and I would argue not the biggest reason. I really don't understand counting win totals for QBs for that reason. We don't do it for running backs, wide receiver, or any other position. Anyone know Anthony Henry's record? Didn't think so. It's stupid.

Anthony Henry.....now HE sucks. ;-)

Their defense definitely collapsed in the last 5 minutes, but their offense (which actually showed signs of success in the 3rd quarter) was pathetic. I know it's the Steelers but they failed just as much. Two of Romo's turnovers led to 10 points for the Steelers because they were either returned for a TD or it set up a short field.

A defense can only put up so many goal line stands and stops for field goals before it tires out. The offense kept giving the ball away....and by offense I mean Romo.

I say the Cowboys should keep him since that will mean they are never a real contender. Most people enjoy to see the Cowboys compete during the season but in the end they want them to lose. So Romo is the perfect fit!

Matt Cassel will be a free agent, he's a potential option. Maybe Colt McCoy in two years. There are plenty of options out there at QB, they're just all very expensive either salary wise or draft-pick wise.

To be fair to Romo, Wade Phillips isn't a head coach, he's a JV flag girl. The Cowboys problems start and end with their ownership. Jones is gonna have an HBO mini-series made about him in 20 years. Romo is mistake-happy, and that's a problem. But their system in general sucks. With their talent, they should be doing much better than they have the past few years.

But Romo is grossly overrated by some.

BPP and I talked about NFL QBs today--I see Cassell going to the Vikings in a draft day deal. As for McCoy, Bradford, Harrell, Tebow and the rest, I don't see any of them as successful pro QBs, with the possible exception of Tebow, who BPP projects as a fullback. How fun would that be? As for the Cowboys, as much as I would like to see them draft a QB to at least provide a decent backup, if not push Romo for the starting job, I just don't think anyone is going to be there, at least not anyone we are hearing about yet. Maybe someone new will jump out at the combine, kind of like how Cutler was suddenly all the talk rather than Young and Leinart in '06.

I agree Ohio State is pathetically overrated they lost to two top 10 teams in USC and Penn State who are playing each other why does Boise State not get to play Texas they are undeafted and OSU has 2 loses and Texas Tech has one loss to the best team in the country and they get left out wuts up with that. And also why isn't Joe Paterno up for for coach of the year after PSU was supposed to finish 4th in the big ten and after he broke his hip he still led them to the Rose Bowl. and last but not least The YAnkees should not have all that money to throw around to players who throw a white ball in these economic times

TO is a jackass who doesn't mind destroying a team on his way out. If he's not happy with Romo, the Cowboys have nobody to blame but Jerry Jones. He's an ass and he should have known better. What did he think he was getting? Did he think that TO had changed since being a schmuck in SF and Philly? People only put up with him because he doesn't drop EVERY pass. He does catch a few, and that's all that a team needs. However, once two years have passed and there's no Super Bowl, TO's value pretty much drops precipitously. Time for the 'Boys to cut bait and find another malcontent. Chad Johnson on line one, Mr. Jones.
