Tiger Woods is simply the best golfer that has ever lived.

I grew up loving Arnie, I thought there would never be anyone as good as him. Then along came Jack, surely he would be the best ever.

But here we are watching a phenom perform better than all the past players. When he needs a shot he hits it, not some of the time, but all the time. He makes putts that are impossible look routine. He seems to will the ball into the hole at crucial times.

Will he win today? I don't know, but is there anybody out there that would bet against him? Certainly not me.

I consider myself very lucky to have watched Arnie and Jack in their prime, but watching Tiger is so special I can't put it into words. You almost have to be a golfer yourself to appreciate how good this young man is. I've been a club champion and have had a 0 handicap in my younger days, and all I can do is watch in amazement. Every time I think Tiger has done the impossible he does something even better.

Hail to the king, long live the Tiger.

I never watch golf so I know very little about Tiger's true abilities. I understand that he makes amazing shots, but doesn't he get himself in trouble in the first place necessitating the amazing shots?

Sure he does, but all golfers do. If none of them got themselves into trouble, the game would come down to who takes their kids mini-golfing the most. Tiger takes bigger risks than most players on the tour b/c his uber-talent affords him that opportunity. What makes Tiger so amazing is the fact that he can recover from poor shots in such sterling fashion. Case in point, yesterday on the 18th hole.

If Johnny Miller called Rocco a "cinderella story" one more time I would have lost it. And let's put the Tiger ass-kissing aside for a minute. He shot two over. He's in a playoff because Rocco, and Westwood for that matter, missed some key putts down the stretch. Granted, Tiger still had to make the putt on 18, but the bottom line is it shouldn't have mattered.

Mike Greenburg and Trey Wingo seriously said this morning that this was the equivalent of Buster Douglas vs. Mike Tyson.

And ESPN's First Take just said this was Chaminade vs. UVA all over again.

Oh yeah, Kels is right, didn't Tiger have the lead going into the final round? Then I think he hasn't lost when he has the lead going into the last round and nearly lost it.

Before Chaminade beat UVA, I had never even HEARD of them. Before yesterday, I had heard of Rocco. Is it ESPN, or the Tiger Woods Channel?

It's the Who's (Bleep) Can We (Bleep) Channel? Otherwise known as ESPN.

Two more idiots. What did Douglas do before beating Tyson? Nothing. Rocco's won on tour before, more than once. It's not like he is some facking no name. Geez.

Apparently to those dudes he is indeed Tiger's pool boy.

Rick Reilly just compared it to "June Bug vs. Hurricane"

Buster Douglas nearly won the IBF title against Tony Tucker 3 months before Mike Tyson unified the three belts in 1987. It's not like he was a total unknown...

Of course, Rocco isn't an unknown either. The media gets swept up in their own hype sometimes...

Yes, Douglas was actually "good" long before he fought Tyson and had one of the best jabs of the era. As we all came to learn (or would have known had Larry Holmes been younger when he fought Iron Mike) Tyson couldn't handle "boxers", he could only punish punchers faster than they could punish him.

If Tyson beats Douglass in that fight, he loses the next one - already scheduled - against Holyfield anyway...

Actually, there is a Tiger Woods Channel already. Yesterday, after NBC went off the air, I flipped on TGC to watch Rocco's press conference. Guess what? Not there.

They showed Tiger outside the scoring tent. They showed his USGA interview. They showed him eating an apple. They showed his press conference. Rocco might as well have not even been there.

I want Rocco to win so bad, just to shove it up their collective asses.

I think some of you are missing the point.Tiger didn't play a competitive round since April, had a bothersome if not worse knee, and still mananged to beat the best of the best in the world. We are watching Michael Jordon, Babe Ruth, Willie Mays, Jim Brown, etc. The best damned player in the world, and we should sit back and enjoy the ride.Someday you can tell your kids , "I watched Tiger win that tournament on one knee."
