The Bruins were on a hot streak heading into last nights game against the Montreal Canadians. For some reason the Canadians have been ending every streak the Bruins put together this season, as Montreal has taken victories in all 6 of the rivals meetings this season and have now beaten Boston in 10 straight games, dating back to last season.

The Canadians won this match up 8-2, and have now outscored the Bruins 21-7 when playing in Montreal. As the leagues best power play got two more power play goals last night.

At the end of the first period the Bruins found themselves trailing 4-1, and needing something to go right heading into the second. Alexander Auld had his first bad game as a Bruin allowing three goals on seven shots and being yanked for All-Star Tim Thomas, however that did not help the Bruins either, who by the end of the second period where trailing 6-1. And at the end of the game were trailing by 6. The Bruins got to emotional and that cost them the game, giving the best power play in the NHL 5 chances is to many as Montreal converted twice. The Bruins power play was unable to convert on all four of their chances.

The Bruins now sit in third place in the Northeast division with 53 points, five points behind the Canadians and seven points in front of the Buffalo Sabres and Toronto Maple Leafs. In the conference the Bruins are in eighth place, the last play off spot, only one point behind the New York Islanders, and only one point in front of the New York Rangers, who the Bruins just beat twice last weekend.

Boston will have a chance to gain some ground in the standings in their next few games as they play host to the Islanders and Predators, and then head on the road to play the division leading Ottawa Senators.
