Freshman phenom Kevin Love led all scorers with 20 points as Pacific 10 champion UCLA held Mississippi Valley State to the lowest point total since 1946, when Baylor had 29 in a loss to Oklahoma State, besting the Delta Devils 70-29 in the opening round of the NCAA West Regional in Anaheim, California.

The 3,767-student school from Itta Bena, Miss., best known as the alma mater of NFL career receiving leader Jerry Rice, also set a tournament record for fewest points in a first-round game, breaking the mark of 32 by Wisconsin against Missouri State in 1999.

Love just missed his 21st double-double with 9 boards as the Bruins led 40-16 at halftime. The Bruins will face ninth-seeded Texas A&M, who beat Brigham Young 67-62 on Saturday afternoon in Anaheim.
