There are some things about sports I don't like... the New Yuck Muts, the University of Michigan and those ASSCRACK UGLY HELMETS, the Floridamn Gayturds and the Miami Crimicanes. I also think that NASCRAP and professional wrestling are a HUGE waste of air time on television and would rather watch women's Jello wrestling!

Brittney could go pro (no, not THAT Brittney!)

6'8", wears a size 18 mens shoe and led her high school team to a win in Houston last night. Notice the word "her." J.E. Skeets of Yahoo.com talks about Brittney Griner a 16 year-old junior in Houston, Texas who leads the area in scoring, blocked shots, dunks, and being tall. She stands 6'8" (for now), wears a size 18 men's sneaker, and has exploded onto the high school basketball -- and YouTube -- scene over the past year.

Last night, Griner posted 29 points, 13 rebounds, 11 shots and nine assists in helping her Nimitz High School to a first round playoff win over rival Westside High School. On top of that, she dunked twice. Hard. Those would have made His Airness proud. Yahoo! Sports has the video. Check it out.

Could Brittney Griner one day play in the NBA? She seems to have some of the tools. She's 6'8" and growing, is just 16 and, from the limited footage that I've seen of her, looks pretty quick on her feet and comfortable with the ball. With a few solid years of coaching, you'd have to at least consider it a possibility, right? This gal could be the next LeBron James or could help some D1 program reach the top (U of H, are you listening?) when the time comes.

Well, no. And here's why: While Griner's 6'8" frame might make her the swat-blocking Gheorge Muresan of Texas women's high school basketball, it would mean nothing in the NBA. Can you imagine her trying to defend someone as athletic and strong as Rudy Gay or Andre Iguodala? It would be impossible. I'm still convinced that the first woman to play in the NBA will actually be a short, lightning-quick point guard with great decision-making skills and a jumpshot. You know, like, Jose Calderon ... but ... um ... not.

First of all...

You're right, she's a skinner (and poorer shooting) version of Kevin Durant (6-8 and thin as hell)...just like its a stretch for guys to go 7-2 and above in the NBA without ending up like dikembe mutumbo (no muscle...which is why shaq was so dominating), it'd be near impossible for her to go pro in the NBA (and stupid)...even if she did, she'd be a freakshow for the team (no offense, that's a fact)...if she made the team

secondly, lets say she goes pro via the WNBA...that's also plain dumb...the highest paid player in the WNBA (assuming all possible championships and awards) is 148,000...with the highest regular salary being 93k...and with a private education from say, somwhere like Duke costing roughly 35k per year...and the WNBA rookie salaries of about 45k per year it'd be stupid not to take the free education (is 10k extra a year with no education, i say no)...so even with TVM, its costing her roughly 50k in potential earnings to go to college, but the earning potential of that degree is much higher...

the WNBA is the essence of why kids should go to college first...

plus a tall gal like that is gonna need some polish...

Also Cougar is the NBA had not already jumped the shark, it sure as hell would when they let a woman play. The idea itself is asinine.

they invented the WNBA for a reason. No NBA franchise is that desperate for money that they need a novalty act.

Not even them. For as bad as they are, they still have some saving graces.

Who cares about NBA or WNBA, I'd like to see her go to Penn State where I could watch her play.
