Breaking News: Jets Finalize Deal With Faneca, and More to Come.

The New York Jets made their big free agent splash today, signing probably the top available offensive free agent, inking guard Alan Faneca to a 5 year, $40 million dollar contract, including $21 million dollars of guaranteed money. The deal gives Faneca the highest per year salary of any offensive lineman in league history. The Jets have been looking for a left guard ever since Pete Kendall was dealt to the Redskins. They now have one in a 10 year veteran that has been voted to 7 straight Pro Bowls.

And Mike Tannenbaum and the Jets appear to not be done yet.

The Jets are in the process of setting up a visit with Damien Woody, Detroit Lions free agent that could come and fill the void at right tackle for the Jets. He knows coach Mangini, he played with him in 1999 with the Patriots.

They are also planning a visit for Calvin Pace, Arizona free agent linebacker.

Pace and Woody would be great additions, but clearly Mike Tannenbaum is attempting to put a winning team together and fast with the signing of Alan Faneca.
