Ainge should dominate an underacheiving Wisconsin secondary.
Ainge should dominate an underacheiving Wisconsin secondary.

(16) Tennessee v. (18) Wisconsin: Outback Bowl When the preseason magazines hit the shelves back in the Spring, most experts had Wisconsin as a national championship contender. However, the Badgers did not meet expectations as they looked mediocre against non-BCS conference teams and eventually lost to several conference foes. Wisconsin's defense was expected to be the strength of the team but in reality it was a weakness. Therefore, expect Wisconsin's secondary to be exploited by the arm of Tennessee gunslinger Erik Ainge, who has an excellent season in his own right. The Badgers have a pretty good offense with Tyler Donovan and P.J. Hill but they faced a fast SEC defense this year. Tennessee 38-31

(7) Missouri v. (25) Arkansas: Cotton Bowl The Cotton Bowl features two Heisman finalists in Chase Daniel and Darren McFadden. Both Daniel and McFadden should have their typical big-time performances but it's the supporting casts that will be the difference. Since Daniel's surrounding cast, especially with Tony Temple and Jerry Maclin, is superior, the Tigers should emerge victorious in their first New Year's Day bowl since the 1970 Orange Bowl. Missouri 41-28

(21) Virginia v. Texas Tech: Gator Bowl Chris Long and company will get plenty of pressure on Texas Tech's Graham Harrell but the question is whether they can keep up with Tech's fast receivers led by Michael Crabtree. As we saw this season, Virginia won a lot of close games that could have gone the other way. .Tech has a lot more firepower than the Cavs do so I'll take Tech. Texas Tech 38-21

(9) Florida v. Michigan: Capital One Bowl This will be the final game for Michigan head coach Lloyd Carr who just retired last month. With six weeks to get healthy and prepare for the Gators, expect seniors Chad Henne and Mike Hart to have big performances against a vulnerable Florida defense. However, Michigan will be exposed once again by another team that utilizes the spread offense. Florida's Urban Meyer is the master of the spread and expect him to exploit every possible weakness for Michigan's defense. He has the playmakers with Heisman winner Tim Tebow and speedburner Percy Harvin to dominate a slow Michigan defense. With too much team speed, expect Florida to pour on the points and ruin Carr's final game as the Michigan coach. Florida 45-24

Overall : 12-9

This year wasn't a great year for the Big Ten. Obviously a couple of wins today would be helpful, but this year sucked. I blame the Big Ten Network!

It really was. When the confetti falls on the Rose Bowl, the Big Ten will be 3-4 in their bowl games. And even that only because of a very improbable win by Michigan over Florida. The Big Ten stunk this year, and they didn't deserve two BCS Bowls. The only reason the got 2 was because of the plus-one rule. With the new BCS format, I think they should eliminate the rule that that a conference can only send two teams. The Big 12 is 4-2 in bowl games so far, with Oklahoma and Kansas still to play. Missouri should not have missed out on a BCS bowl just because of that dumb rule that, with five games, no longer makes any sense.

The Big Ten is terribly overrated, even with the Michigan upset of Florida.

Well, the Rose Bowl got their Pac 10/Big 10 matchup, and I hope they're happy, because they look like real idiots right now for not taking selecting Missouri instead. Especially with the way the Tigers manhandled Arkansas earlier today. I think this is the worst year for BCS Bowls that I have seen.

lol...good call. I probably would have made the same prediction. Pretty good analysis other than that...and vastly underrating Missouri's defense, of course.

Michigan had a lot to prove. Henne and Hart went 0-4 vs OSU, and were 0-3 in Bowl Games. They had one shot to win a somewhat meaningful game
