When you think of Boise State, you think of blue turf, the fake play that beat Oklahoma a couple of years ago in football and potatoes. Boise State is not exactly a basketball power per se but they did do something they haven't done since the Clinton administration. They won a conference title.
The Broncos are going to the dance as king of the Western Athletic Conference mountain. No misprint. Boise State, who last appearance was a loss to Louisville in 1994 as a member of the Big Sky Conference, needed three (yes, three!) overtimes to beat host New Mexico State 107-102 to end a l4-year NCAA drought Saturday night.
Reggie Larry scored 31 points for Boise State. Tied at 71 at the end of regulation, at 80 after the first overtime and at 92 after two OTs, Boise State finally built up enough cushion, with Larry scoring twice in a 6-0 burst to start the final overtime.
