Charlotte Bobcats 95 Boston Celtics 83

I was very shocked when I turned on Sportscenter this morning, only to find out that the NBA's best team, the Boston Celtics, lost to the 13-21 Charlotte Bobcats.  I had to double check myself, I didn't believe my own eyes.  Boston didn't just lose by a few points, they lost by 12 fackin' points.  But, hey, everyone has an off day every once in a while.  You can't expect them to go 79-3, can you???  Well, this is Boston we're talkin 'bout, they HAVE to win.  I would love to see the Celtics make history, actually, I don't care if they're a Boston team, I think it would be cool to witness a little more history.  But, I don't want them to win the Eastern Conference Championship.  They can win all they want, UNTIL they get to the Conference Finals, then I want Detroit, who is more experienced by the way, to beat the Celtics in 7 games (just to make it an exciting series).

If you ask me, I would say it really wasn't an "off" day for Boston...OK, so maybe it was, but Kevin Garnett had a pretty good day, scoring 24, while draining 8 of 13 from the floor, and 8 of 9 from the FT line.  KG added 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 blocks in 34 minutes played.  Shooting Guard, Ray Allen was sidelined with a pinched nerve in his neck.

Charlotte took advantage of playing Boston without Allen, and scored 95 points, led by SG Jason Richardson.  Richardson scored 34 points, racked up 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, and fouled just once.  In 43 minutes, Richardson made 14 of 22 from the floor.  Third-year point guard, Raymond Felton scored 16 points, making all 5 of his free throw attempts, and SF Gerald Wallace played 45 minutes, and scored 15 points.  Charlotte had little help from their weak bench, Center Nazr Mohammed scored 18 off the bench, but the rest of the bench played a total of 26 minutes, but didn't score a single point.

Charlotte played one hell of a game, outscoring Boston in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th quarters.  And, Charlotte never gave up, even after falling behind early.  The team stats are very similar, which tells me that if just one of the Celtics' "Big Three" can't carry this team (although I kinda already thought that).  With Ray Allen out, and Paul Pierce having an off-day the Celtics are just an average team, unless they get an exceptional day from a few young players, i.e. Tony Allen (6 points, 1 ast, 1 stl, 1 blk, 3 TO, 4 PF in 29 minutes vs CHA), and Rajon Rondo (13 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 stl, 4 TO, 4 PF in 34 minutes vs CHA).  It doesn't help much when your team gets in foul trouble, either.  Boston had 24 personal fouls, and six players had 3 or more personal fouls, including SF James Posey, who came off the bench, and scored 10 points.

Team Stats:

Charlotte- 95 points (18 off bench), 39 for 80 FG (48.8%), 4 for 14 3PT (28.6%), 13 for 18 FT (72.2%), 42 REB (9 Off, 33 Def), 19 AST, 7 STL, 3 BLK, 11 TO, 19 PF

Boston- 83 points (21 off bench), 30 for 72 FG (41.7%), 4 for 20 3PT (20%), 19 for 24 FT (79.2%), 40 REB (10 Off, 30 Def), 19 AST, 7 STL, 6 BLK, 17 TO, 24 PF

It is pretty generic, but it covers everything. I can use the same description all year long, regardless of which team is in season. I can also use it to describe the city. Two words speak volumes, don't you think?

Have to love when those nasty little NY fans pop their head up into discussions that have nothing to do with them. Easiest way to bash them back down into their dark caves is to roll up a copy of the NY Times from October 2004 detailing the ALCS collapse. Generall shuts them up.

Did you hear about how Jason Kidd getting his triple double in 3 straight games. CRAZY! Only Michael Jordan's 4 is better than Kidd's all time record for consecutive Triple-Doubles.

He still scores 21.6 points per game, with 5.3 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game. He's only 2.4 points and 0.1 rebounds less than his career numbers this season. He actually has more assists per game than usual (4.8-4.1), which means that with Kidd on his team, the Nets are actually doing pretty well when it comes to teamwork. They are now tied for 2nd place with the Raptors with an 18-17 record. With Richard Jefferson doing his thing, Kidd doing what he has been doing his whole career, and Sean Williams gaining experience, I guarantee you the Nets will make the playoffs, or at least get second place over the Raptors.

But, he doesn't make any amazing dunks like he used to:( Oh well, at least we still have Lebron, who will probably be around for another 15, maybe even 20 years (if he stays healthy).

You've still got LeBron, Wade, Melo, Yao , Dwight Howard, Amare... you've got a whole bunch of dunkers who have only played for a couple of years, and are in their early/mid-20s. Kobe can still dunk. Don't worry, man. You still have entertainment.

Good game recap, BBB.

BTW guys, this proves that if the Big 3 either don't all do well or aren't playing/don't play for most of the game, then the Celtics will probably lose. Let's look at the numbers of KG, Pierce, and Allen... shall we?

Kevin Garnett (who has 19.2 points, 10 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game) had 24 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists. Not bad, eh?

Paul Pierce (who has 21.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per game) had 13 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists

Ray Allen (who has 18 points, 4 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game) DIDN'T PLAY! That is one of the key reasons why they lost. The Celtics' bench isn't that great. Sure, each person does well sometimes (ie Tony Allen, James Posey), but most of the time, they are mediocre. When Tony Allen replaced Ray yesterday, he only scored 6 points with no rebounds and only 1 assist. Ironically, Ray Allen's 18 points per game (12 more than Tony Allen's 6 yesterday) would've tied the game with the Bobcats and they would've went to overtime.

The one thiing I didn't think you talked about the most (BBB) is turnovers. The Celtics turned the ball over 17 times, while the Bobcats turned the ball over only 11 times. I honestly think that's what beat the Celtics. They usually allow about 14, and their opposing teams (on average) allow 15.6, which is 2nd in the East, and 5th in the league. That's the category they usually control. Last night, they didn't.

yes, thats why i hate all the ignorant pats fans who think they will steam roll over each team they face the rest of this season. its all about who wants it more on that one game for the entire 60 minutes. after a game is over you forget about it and no matter how much talent you have you have to realize any team can beat any team on in any given game. they are still in the NFL so they got talent. and are in the playoffs so they have deseved the right to play you. They are willing to knock you off the road to the AFC championchip game so go full tilt full time never give as Tedy Bruschi says and play FOOTBALL.

One cannot expect the Celtics to win every night they play unless you think they are the greatest team ever assembled. And since that is not the case, losses, even to

Charlotte will happen.

I agree that the Pistons will take a Conference Finals series in six, not seven (Celtics with first seed so Detroit is home for game six).
