May 7, 2008: Real Madrid Massacres Barcelona, 4-1

13' Raul Gonzalez (Real Madrid)
21' Arjen Robben (Real Madrid)
63' Gonzalo Higuain (Real Madrid)
78' Ruud Van Nistelrooy (penalty) (Real Madrid)
86' Thierry Henry (Barcelona)

Real Madrid was on fire during the entire game, with about 70% possession with the ball. Every, single player on the Real Madrid squad was on their wheels, passing to each other and using tactical methods to overcome Barcelona's defenders, and they managed to break through them to score 4 goals. Higuain was substituted for Raul in the second half, and his first touch on ball was Real Madrid's 3rd goal. Madrid players were being hampered by Barcelona players by being a little too harsh on the field; luckily none of Madrid's players were injured. Even when Madrid won their 31st La Liga Championship, it didn't change their minds to still beat their rival team.

Barcelona, in my opinion, played too aggressive, very uncoordinated, and had no sportsmanship for the entire game. Barcelona received 6 yellow cards and one red card to X. Hernandez. Messi, their best player, was invisible during first half, but managed to create some heat towards the end of the game. Henry was the only player who managed to score a goal in the net of Real Madrid.

On a side note, Real Madrid goalie Iker Casillas was bored during the first half, receiving absolutely no shots during the first 45 minutes. He did, however, get three shots on goal during the second half, one being Henry's goal.

There were disputes between Barcelona's players and the referee about a certain play involving Robinho and Puyol during the 78th minute. As you can see in the video, Puyol was protecting himself from the ball hitting his face, but he the ball ricocheted off his hands, and was considered a hand ball, which eventually led to the fourth goal: a penalty kick by Van Nistelrooy.

The game wasn't expected to end as it happened between both teams. Fans thought it would have been a very close game. Hopefully, not that many players will be traded next year, as both team have the potential and the will to win more titles for their clubs in the upcoming year.
