Bad Move Or...

According to reports, the Toronto Blue Jays offered the New York Mets a trade to send pitcher, Roy Halladay to the Mets for Fernando Martinez (outfielder), Jon Niese
(pitcher), Bobby Parnell (pitcher) and Rueben Tejada (shortstop).

Sources from the Mets reported that this deal was never considered.

The Blue Jays are currently 46-48 and 10 games back of the lead in the AL East. If the playoffs were to begin tomorrow, the Blue Jays won't be in.

Blue Jays general manager, J.P. Ricciardi, has decided to shop Halladay around to receive some good quality players in-return.

Many people were hoping for the Mets to make this move, but is it really needed? The Mets problem happens to be their line-up and their field play. With the injuries the Mets suffered this season with Jose Reyes (shortstop), Carlos Delgado (first baseman) and Carlos Beltran (center fielder), has caused many problems for them.

Halladay is the best pitcher in Major League Baseball, but that doesn't mean every team should be fighting to land him. The Mets should focus on their needs and that's the line-up. This line-up has trouble providing run support for their starting pitchers and Halladay won't change that.

Minaya should continue to search for line-up help, because that's were the Mets need the most improvement.

Ricciardi believes the chance of Halladay getting traded is "slim," because no teams have stepped up as of late. The asking prices is high, but how can you blame Ricciardi? This is Halladay were talking about.

The Philadelphia Phillies have been a candidate, but they've haven't made any offer. Landing Halladay would be more then helpful for the Phillies, because pitching is where improvement is needed from them. If the Phillies get Halladay, the Mets chances of winning the NL East are "finished" for a while.

i think this is a good move for both teams. the bluejays get some great prospects that will help this club later down the line.(if they are gonna trade Halladay nows the best time because they can get the most for him) and for the mets need something to spark them if they want to get back into the NL east. plus they cant let the phillies get Halladay or they become even better!(if thats possible)but ten games back isnt that bad if you take away the errors for the secound half i think they will win alot more games. and think of halladay and santana going back to back... deadly

I think that Halladay would make the Mets so much better but all those prospects could be the Mets future.

Providing run support will be the Mets problem if they get Halladay, because they have that problem with Santana. Halladay can't fix the problems the mets have in the line-up and in the field.
