I'm going to let the New York Yankees' news release speak for itself.

Just two days before New York City hosts Major League Baseball's All-Star Game at the current Yankee Stadium for the final time, former Yankees great Bobby Murcer has just passed away in losing his fight against brain cancer. He was just 62 years old.

Murcer was a lifetime .277 hitter with 252 career home runs and drove in 1,043 runs in 1,908 Major League games with the Yankees, San Francisco Giants and Chicago Cubs. He most recently worked for the Yankees this season as a color commentator on the YES Network.

Wow, Tony Snow (former White House correspondent) and Bobby Murcer on the same day to the same disease (cancer).

RIP Bobby, it's a dark day in New York.
