Are you kidding me?

Come on you have to be kidding me. According to a Boston Globe columnist (I have yet to see it any where else) Plaxico Burress predicted the outcome of the Super Bowl. He said that the Giants would be victorious. He even predicted a score! 23-17 he said it would be. This guy must want to give the Patriots bulletin board material. Hey remember Anthony Smith, I know that Burress is much more of a star than Smith but come on, you're allowed to have faith in your team but that is just crossing the line.

Even head coach Tom Coughlin said so. As he shook his head and said “We have had a good theme all year and it hasn’t been that. We do our talking on the field.”

I don’t think this was such a smart idea, but I guess at media day this type of stuff happens all of the time but why would you do it against the Patriots? I guess we will have to see what happens on Sunday.

What a jackass. Not because he's giving the Pats motivation; they already have plenty of that. Because he's going to look like the biggest moron in history when his team loses. 35 years from now when he's drunk and says he wants to kiss Suzy Kolber on the sidelines, it won't just be laughed off, because Plax will be the guy who got it WRONG!

If he's wrong, so what? They're supposed to lose! Do you want him to say "I'm pretty sure we're going to lose"

I just think predicting the games score is crossing the line, I mean isn't that kind of what Pete Rose did, only with out the money stuff

I understand the argument against it, but I think that it's only a small step too far. It only looks bad when they lose, and it's evident of a characteristic that you have to have to be a professional athlete... confidence. I would rather see Jon Kitna say "I think we have the talent to go far this year" then "We're going to win 10 games," but if I were the owner/coach/players/fans, I'd be glad that my starting QB thought that the team could win games. But I do understand the argument. I would like it more if Burress had said, "Every week, we expect to win, and this week is no different." That's confidence without the silly numbers game.

Fuck the motivation of the Patriots. If anything, this is motivating the Giants. I feel that you have the right to talk shit in the NFL, especially if youre in the Superbowl against the Pats. People are whining about how dumb he looks by saying this, but how dumb will people look for criticizing him if they do win? I understand that the Pats are the better team, and if Brady was to say some shit like this, everybody would blow his nuts on how much of a leader he is. I enjoy shit talking, but I dont know why nobody else does. I'm sorry to tell you Patriot fans but the Giants do have a chance.

We can swear here? Well fuck I didn't know that? I hear what the hell you are saying Oneflydude but I really do think in this day and age athletes need to learn how to just shut the fuck up. The reason you don't "hear" Brady talking trash is because he's smart enough not to talk to the media and make comments like this. I'm all for him saying his team is going to win, that's not the problem. The problem is that he made a public statement about winning. Sounds stupid right? Of course it's fucking stupid. You can't win but talking to the media. You can't. So they shouldn't. All teams should hire a spokes person who goes and talks for the team to the media. Everyone else answers with "no comment". Fuck the media. I already suggested a sports section burning outside ESPN. I think I might organize it, you in? PS: I won't swear anymore. It's not really me.

Of course they have a chance..they would not be in the Super Bowl if they didn't have a chance. Just look at the Pats in 2001 against the Rams, nobody gave them a chance, and look what they did

Having an entire day dedicated to talk to this two-faced media that's only interested in hype and sexy stories is the real joke in this. The biggest joke is that you miss a day of talking to these bunch of pricks you'll be fined by the NFL. It proves once again that it's all about the bottom line for these execs. If i were one of these players, I'd bring a parrot that'll keep repeating "no comment". Now Plaxico certainly should have known better as to go as far to predict the score. But if any player playing in this Super Bowl or any other dosen't have an inner belief that they can win it, they're best off watching the game at the bar in the team hotel. The media's probably waiting for the day a player predicts a loss. End this sharade called Media day at the SB at once.

This story is now past the "out of proportion" phase.

I don't think guaranteeing victory is a horrible thing. In reality, we should expect the Giants to all KNOW that they will win. Without this confidence, they would lose. The same goes for the Pats.

But I do think it's a stupid thing to do. It gives the opposing team a focal point for their energy. And it creates a distraction for your own team.

I predict 38-17 Pats winning it... I have a feeling that it's gonna go down something like this: First half, the Giants will be up 10-7 then the Pats are gonna come back and score 28 unanswered points and will add a FG just for good measure later on in the game... Lawrence Maroney will LIGHT IT UP! My guess - 125 yrds 2 TD's... Brady 280 yrds 3 TD's
