There are some things about sports I don't like... the New Yuck Muts, the University of Michigan and those ASSCRACK UGLY HELMETS, the Floridamn Gayturds and the Miami Crimicanes. I also think that NASCRAP and professional wrestling are a HUGE waste of air time on television and would rather watch women's Jello wrestling!

Anna Grant

Anna Grant is your typical 14-year old girl. She probably likes to listen to Hannah Montana, has a couple of blogs on the internet, and talks about boys with her friends. On a Sunday afternoon in Indianapolis, Anna thought she was minding her own business. What was her crime that caused a stadium full of people to despise her? Did she cheat on a test in school? Was she mean to her younger siblings? Did she drive on the wrong side of the road? Did she have a child out of wedlock? No. Her "crime" was wearing a New England Patriots jersey.

I'm sorry. Did someone all of a sudden decide that there was a dress code at the RCA Dome and nuns with whipples and rulers were running the place? Given what most 14-year old girls are wearing nowdays, at least she was covered up. I could have cared less if she was wearing a Dallas Cowboys jersey. This child was respectful and did not respond to the booing by the Indy fans, some of which were, as Peyton Manning once said, were "liquored up." We live in a world where children are abused for no reason whatsoever, exploited for financial gain and even killed for being the wrong gender in most cultures.

I wore an Atlanta Braves jersey to an Astros game last year and got some strange looks (but then again, the Braves had a winning record and the Astros didn't). At least I was left alone and enjoyed the game (which Atlanta won). Perhaps the Indy fans that booed should look a bit deeper in their souls and apologize to this young lady, who made a choice that was hers and hers alone. They don't have to do it at one time but it would be nice if they did it out of the kindness of their hearts. After all, Anna could be the one that finds that cure for cancer or AIDS. If we don't learn anything else from this, we should learn that that sportsmanship carries all the way from the bleachers to the field.

One last thing: Anna and her family are going to be guests of the Patriots this Sunday and will join her team on the field for the coin toss. She will be the envy of every girl and boy in her school. She's already earned my respect for not reacting to these zealots. In this case, clothes do not make the man... or in Anna's case, the woman.

How do we know that Anna Grant is a typical 14 year old girl? She's from New Hampshire. I've never met anyone from New Hampshire that was "typical."

Advice to everyone: read the first few sentences and pretend that the guy who does voice over for movie previews is reading it aloud.

Anna Grant was a typical 14 year old girl, until one day, she met 59,000 drunk Colts fans. Now it's up to her and the New England Patriots to FIGHT BACK!

One girl, one team, one dream. This Sunday Anna Grant is...The Coin Toss Girl.

Well, Rawbeezeitz and Tyrone, if either of you watched WGN this evening, they did a story on her. I think it's only fair that if she does fight back, she does it with dignity. I don't think that doing her story as a voice over would do her justice.

I'm almost... almost shocked that they was written. What are you accomplishing? Are you raising awareness? Are you protecting some ethical unwritten NFL fan code that I'm unaware of?

I love how this is written as if the girl wondered unsuspectingly onto a pee wee football field in Missouri and was booed by parents relentlessly from the sidelines.

The moral superiorty you feel you hold over the fans of the Indianapolis Colts is wearing kind of thin on me, and I really wouldn't be shocked if it's wearing on a lot of others.

I am raising the fact that we need to use our common sense, plus I have no moral superiority over the Colts fans or any other fans for that matter. I am merely asking that Anna be recognized for her accomplishments. PPK is fun and if I remember correctly, a few winners have gone on to the NFL. Anna may not get into the NFL but at least she did something positive with her life instead of doing drugs or being like Brittany Spears' sister.

"Anna may not get into the NFL but at least she did something positive with her life instead of doing drugs or being like Brittany Spears' sister" If that's the true heart of your motovation, to make sure more 14 year old girls participate in sports then lay back with their legs gapped open, well then I'll shut the fuck up and sit on my hands because no one is against that. Not even conservative blow hards like me.

I thought it was cool that she was going to get to be on the field at Gillette this Sunday for the coin toss. But I didn't think there were so many morals, ethics, and values attached to what is essentially a non-issue. That's why I wrote a 2 line locker room thing. It was a story I found neat, but at the same time, relatively shallow.

"She's already earned my respect for not reacting to these zealots"

She earned my respect by winning the competition she performed in. What was she suppose to do other then say nothing? Hold a 14-year old press conference? Come on, this whole thing was way more common then anyone is giving it credit for WAY MORE COMMON.

If this was professional news, it would be drive-bys in their finest hour. "How disgraceful Indianapolis fans berate an innocent child without pretense at a playoff game"

All it shows is that Pats fans are no worse than fans of any other team. And Colts fans are as bad as Pats fans. The douchebaggery goes both ways. We are all guilty. It is a story, because it was broadcast on national television. Showing that Colts fans (the ones that booed anyway) aren't very bright.

This story should not even BE a story. So the girl got booed. BIG DEAL! Boo friggin' hoo! You know how many people in a stadium or arena are booed because they're not in allegiance with the home team? I am sensitive to the girl and she shouldn't have been booed, that's fine. But the fact the media is even giving it ANY airtime is ridiculous. Maybe in New Hampshire, maybe even Boston, fine. But across the country? I don't think so. Then the Patriots are going to give her a day? Beyond absurd. Let's make it a BIG nationwide scandal... Colts fans boo teenage girl, she gets royal treatment, soon becomes a celebrity with a book deal or TV gig. Then we wonder where this country's media has their priorities at.

I respect your point of view on this story and understand how you think it is newsworthy. Considering that it's something that doesn't happen every day and that this happened to a teenage girl, I can see how people are paying attention to it. I just don't believe it garners the magnitude of coverage it received.
